How do I get someone to leave feedback?
Why am I not getting any feedback on my auditions, or demo's?
The feedback system at Voices.com allows you to see who's rated you, what you've been rated and any comments left for you. Feedback can be accessed from the Profile tab in your account. Feedback can only be obtained through work completed at Voices.com where a SurePay deposit was made by the client.
The Feedback system has been created so that only those people who've hired you can rate you. Only transactions processed through SurePay will be used in this metric because those are truly the only transactions that we can track and determine as concrete proof of work completed at Voices.com.
What are the benefits of a feedback system based solely upon financial transactions?
• All ratings and reviews are associated with a business transaction between a voice actor and a client who worked together at Voices.com
• Recognizes people who work professionally and consistently
• Quickly identifies voice actors who are hired frequently for their talent and abilities
• Acknowledges that work is procured and completed at Voices.com
• Signifies the professionalism of a voice actor and dedication to pursuing their craft online
In the past we did have a different Feedback system where ratings could be provided through auditions and through visits to member pages. This did not result in valid feedback and due to member requests was removed and replaced with our current feedback system.
Clients have the ability to add talent to a Favorites list as a shortlisting option as well. Members who have been added to several Favorites lists will end up appearing in the Top Favorites on the Voices.com homepage.
We have a Top 10, Top 100 and even a Top 500 listing. You can view this from the Voices.com homepage.
FYI - in Voice-over, you generally do not get any feedback on jobs you don't book. And, after 30 yrs. in the business, working on both sides, I can tell you that you don't really want it. If you feel like your work needs further evaluation, hire a coach or take a class. They can listen to your work overall and offer criticism that will improve your approach as a voice-actor. Each client has their own agenda and what they think of your voice would be very different from anyone else listening to it. They hear a "voice in their head" and you come close or you don't. Since you'll never again audition for that specific job, don't worry about it. You can save your audition scripts (and recorded auditions) to go over with a coach, to get feedback on what works - in general - or not. But if the client was hearing Dennis Leary in his head, and you sound like James Spader, you just won't book that job, no matter how great your read. If you are looking for coaches, message me and I can send you a list. I am not currently taking on clients, but know some great folks.
