Jason: In order to get the most out of Voices.com you have to understand how and why other voice over artists use it. I read your profile and it mentions two demos. However, when I clicked on them nothing played. Have you uploaded your demos yet? This site offers job seekers an opportunity to compete with thousands of others for jobs. I can't speak for anyone else but I wouldn't waste my time on Voices.com if I lacked the ability to quickly (like within 2 or 3 minutes) to respond to a job with a high quality audition. You need to thoroughly read the information on this site to see if it is a good match for you and your needs. It might not be.

Hello Jason -
If you've decided you want to do voice acting but don't possess equipment you can use a studio for recording and editing. You may first want to check voices.com for demo scripts to read, become familiar with and ultimately record. Then, check Google for local studios and talk with them regarding their rate to record and edit demos (and possibly provide voice acting tips and advice). Once your first few demos are completed (based on your budget) you can upload them to your voices.com profile and seek jobs from clients.
Best to you!

Hi Jason. All you really need is a computer, recording software and a mic. There are a number of good quality microphones that can connect directly to your computer via a USB port. Look into the tech chat board for suggestions on sofware. I have a mac and just use Garage Band (it's free - came with the computer), but there are many other inexpensive or free programs. This type of site is really useful when you do a LOT of auditions very quickly. To do that, you won't have time to go to an outside studio. I try to do 15 - 20 auditions a day, when I have the time. After hundreds of auditions (and 30 yrs. prior experience), I've booked 17 jobs through this site. If you're just starting, expect to do even more auditions, take classes and jump in on forums regarding editing and recording to perfect your craft. This site can be a great tool to help you with your career.
