If a client posts a job as English do they actually mean American?

If a client posts a job as English do they actually mean American. And the client only means British if it says English (british).

If a job posts as "English," it means "North American" unless it says "British." If a more specific dialect is required (Canadian, American Southern, Brooklyn), the poster will specify in the details section.
