Hey guys,

I am a very active voice talent, but am pretty new to this site. I landed my first gig on here and am not 100% sure how jobs conclude on here. If you have a quick second to answer, I would greatly appreciate it.

1. Once a client has funded the project, does this protect me from being spammed (i.e. client taking an unwatermarked read and not releasing funds)?

2. Who determines when a job is complete?

3. Is there anything I can do to be more visible in the search categories? On other sites, my reputation for quality, speed, etc. has pushed me to a more optimal search level, is that how this site is? Just keep getting more jobs to be more promoted?

I apologize, but I'm a newbie here and I'm very confused on how to use the site.

I've just signed up about 20 minutes ago and I'm having trouble finding jobs.

All I can do is post my own job.

I still have to sign up for a talent account...?

I'd really like to be able to post AND find jobs because not only do I want to look for voice actors, I want to be one as well.

Should a demo be receipting some type of monologue? Can you make your own monologue or own mini-script to upload including music in the background? Like a movie trailer without the video.

I am working with a Macbook Pro and setting up my home studio. What do you recommend as far as the software to use on this and format of files. Also is Garageband okay to use for these demos?

I've done several auditions on this site now and have been heard by almost every client, but have not had a single job offer!! I keep going back to my auditions to review to see what i am doing wrong, where i'm going wrong, what exactly is it that the client may not have liked in my voice!!

I know they say audition and just forget it, but i'm wondering if there is a way of getting someone to review my audition tapes, just to highlight what i could be doing that's not generating any work. I understand this is a subjective industry, what 'sounds' right to one person may not to another,etc. But what do we have to do to nail at least one job!!!

Can one add music, effects, reverb, etc. to a custom audition if it has not been requested, or should it always be dry?

Too much 'popping and clicks' during recording!

I have a Rode NT1-A mic, and a pop shield in front of it. Plus just before recording i drink plenty of water, chew Biotene to make sure I don't have a dry mouth. I can still hear 'pops' and 'clicks' in my tracks.

What could i be doing wrong and any solutions?!

I re-recorded a sample script and would like to swap it for what I have already posted. I can't seem to figure out how to do this. I was able to delete my old one, but then wasn't able to start again. I ended up un-deleting just in case. Thank you!

When I receive a new job posting i have noted that even if I open it immediately it will have responses already made. How is this possible if I am opening the posting immediately? Is there some sort of delay to my access to this posting? Seems like on many of the postings I am at the back of line even if I respond ASAP. Can you tell me why?

I also use scarlett 2i2 preamp on samsung laptop. Not sure about the sound card! It sounds ok with my headphones but not when i listen to it through the pc.

I am just starting in the industry so at this time I do not have a professional voice demo because I am still looking for a voice acting coach. However I have taken classes and seminars on the basics in voiceacting and pretty much feel comfortable with I can do and know what I can't do as far as genres. But without some samples of my voice I don't feel I am able to tap into the job offers that may be available with a completed profile. Should I just work without a demo until I can get something professional under my belt.

If client's budget says $250-$500, is it ok to ask for $500?! Or should we stay slightly lower?

A question: I received a nice note for an audition about the clarity of my recording, even though I did not ultimately get the job. Can I use this feedback as a testimonial, or is that reserved for jobs won? Do you copy and paste from your email to insert a testimonial? Should you check with client you auditioned for before doing this? Thanks for any insight. I wish to travel the respectful road. :)

One of my jobs in the answered page says the job status is working. If I'm working it, it's certainly news to me. I have yet to receive any notice that I'm "working" it. What does that mean?

Hey! I just set up my home studio and was wondering what is an acceptable sound level (db) of room ambiance? I have my laptop in the room and the dreaded fan can be slightly heard in between pauses. Sitting silent in the room with my microphone on, I can see it is picking up a fairly low reading of -63db (maximum) from the laptop. Definitely not noticeable at all while I'm speaking. Is this ideal?

I was asked to give an hourly rate for an ongoing project. This involves recording short children's bedtime stories of 3-7 minutes each. The client asked for an hourly "studio time" rate. I will be providing raw, unedited tracks. This is for a children's product that will be sold nationally and internationally. This will be my first experience with narrating children's audiobooks.
