I've been winging it for about a year now, sporadically, and am just now seriously taking up voice-over work pretty much full-time. Going mostly on intuition, and biased by my own hopes and personal perspectives, I'm wondering what weak points I may have. I'd really like to get some input from an impartial outside observer.

Can you audition for anything with a guest account?

I want to audition, but it keeps redirecting me to the page to "Upgrade my account" =/

So my guess is that I have to pay loads of money if I want a job? That just makes me think that this website is a scam... Can anyone clarify?

What is the actual process? Is it Open, Closed, Finalizing, Working, and Complete? Just curious as no answer spells it out. Thanks in advance to the person who answers this!

I no longer can submit custom auditions using Mozilla. IE works fine.

Using latest version of Mozilla and IE on Windows 7 OS.
In Mozilla, error comes up saying the file type (mp3) is not recognized, when I submit the audition, and it doesn't go through
I can submit a generic demo (one already posted on my profile), but not a custom demo. I also experimented with various mp3 file settings, to no avail. I usually use 128 kbps for auditions.

If there is a thumbs up "liked" sign in one of my jobs in my answered list, what does that mean?

It is quite frustrating when I've taken the time to select a job that my voice would fit, interpret the script the client has provided, and spend the better part of an hour recording & cutting together an audition, and submitting a script; only to see the job completed without my audition ever being listened to!

I generally do not submit an audition or quote for any of these jobs unless I can get it in 60th response or under, knowing that the later I get in my audition, the lower the chances the client will take the time to listen. I also take care to make sure my bid is neither scraping the upper end of their budget range, or not at the bottom or below it.

Given that, why would a voice seeker not even listen to my auditions? Maybe they hear exactly what they're looking for within their budget within the first dozen auditions that come in? Does something in my profile preclude me from even being considered without listening? Is there anything I can do to increase the odds that I could at least get a listen?

I know that persistence (along with some talent) pays off on this service, but I get very discouraged from submitting any more custom auditions each time I submit one and the job completes without my audition ever being heard.

I'd truly appreciate any ideas/suggestions.

What does "Working" mean under Job status?

When looking at jobs you've responded to, what does "WORKING" under Job Status mean? Does it mean they've picked yours and haven't awarded you yet? Does it mean they've picked someone else and just haven't closed it down yet?

On the itouch how can I save my demo so I can send it out from my itouch?

I don't believe you can save MP3 files on any iTouch (iPhone, iPod, iPad) device.

I have an iPhone and there is no local, device storage like a hard drive where you can save files, then upload them later.

Perhaps there is an app on the App Store that allows you to save MP3 files in a folder so how.

Can someone else share their experience with doing auditions from an iPhone or iPad?

Should I slate auditions submitted through voices.com? If so, what should be included?

How often are projects left "open" without changing on Voices.com?

I've noticed that in my inbox, for jobs I've "answered," there are still maybe two whole pages of jobs that are classified as "open"...but they're from about a year ago! Is this a common occurence for jobs on Voices.com, that clients disappear or never answer? Do I just assume I didn't get it and that the job has been completed?

How often do you guys all see this? Just curious.
