When exporting Audacity file to mp3, resulting audio sounds clipped and mushy. Any advice?

I use a Rode NT-1A mic with an mAudio FTP interface. I know a mic is a mono input, so before I export to mps, I duplicate the mono track, name the two mono tracks "left" and "right", then click "make stereo".

The resulting mp3 file is almost always mushy and clipped.

RealTraps Portable Vocal Booth - anyone use it?

I am wondering if any other talents use the RealTraps Portable Vocal Booth in an untreated room for VO? If so, what success have you had with it?

I am relocating my studio into a small new room at my house, full concrerte structure, insulated walls. I am just starting to look at some options and have come across this product?

Thanks in advance.
