Hello. My name is Melanie, and I'd like to welcome you to this course. I know everyone who's listing right now has a different experience with money. I'm no different. Personally, I've gone through some huge financial challenges that have caused a lot of stress in my life for many years. I barely made ends meet. I was always worried about where I would get the money to pay my rent. I was always hoping my car wouldn't break down. Fortunately, I was able to work through those issues. Now I'm at a place where I feel comfortable with my finances. I have a clear plan to retire, and I'm confident this course can help you reach that state to I also know that no matter where you're starting from, you can achieve a level of financial security and comfort. Let's get started on your path to financial wellness. Right now, we'll start with an important topic. Financial goals. Setting financial goals can help you live the lifestyle you want. At the same time, they'll help you secure your financial future. No matter where you are financially. Now, setting good goals will help you reach the next level, whether you plan to retire soon or you just want to get out of debt. The first place to start is right here in this section. Start with setting your goals. Most people don't set financial goals, but everybody here who completes these exercises will have a big advantage. Take a look at the notes on the right hand side, read through the tip section called How to Set Goals. The first thing I want everybody to do right now is just a daydream. Think about all the things you really want to do in life. You can even take a minute and put this video on pause. There's no right or wrong answer, and nothing is too silly. Just think about the things you feel most passionate about and write them down. Writing down your goals is critical to helping you accomplish them. For the rest of this activity, used the goal setting worksheet in the calculator and tool section. Just follow the bullet points, and it will guide you through the process. If any of you have gone through financial challenges, I want you also to complete the financial recovery gold section. It's on the second tab on the right hand side. What I want you to do is prioritize that is, picked the things you need to work on first. At first, your problems might seem overwhelming. Tackling one issue at a time will make it much easier for you to gain momentum. Before you know it, you'll be in a much better financial position. You'll feel much more secure, and you won't have the worries that a lot of people face every day. For those of you who are in a relationship, I'd like you also to play the money Gold game. An interesting thing about money is that it impacts a lot more than just our finances. Money impacts, our health, our relationships and our ability to focus money. Stress takes a huge emotional toll on people. I know about it firsthand. I've spent lots of nights unable to sleep because I was so worried about my financial situation. So it's important to address our emotional connection with money and emotions about money are especially important if you're in a relationship, because money is the leading cause of stress and fights between couples. When you play the money gold game with your significant other, make sure you're both in a positive frame of mind. Agreed together that you'll openly and honestly talk through any issues that arise during the game. I want to congratulate you all for taking the first step towards financial wellness.
