Rick Fisher Commercial Demo
This is a commercial demo that I cut at the Voice One School and Studio in March of 2009! It's upbeat, warm and sincere!
The Lighthouse Art tour
This is a quick sample of a guided tour narration one might hear in a museum.
Technology how to narration
Here is a quick and light sample of technology (how to) narration one might hear in an instructional course or on the internet.
Weather promo
This was an excercise in my 'Styles' class at Voice One. It's a very short clip of a strong promo tag, and the critique that's heard is from Abby Cohen, one of the wonderful teachers at VoiceOne.
Character excercise
This was an excercise from class at VoiceOne-bring a written sketch of five or six characters interacting. Hilarity ensues. Keep an ear out for Brando and Jimmy Stewart, along with British accents and over the top newscaster guy! (Thanks to Elaine Clark, who is the best!)
Wacky baseball promo
This clip was a great excercise in the 'Styles' class at VoiceOne. The critique that you hear is from Abby Cohen, one of the many fantastic teachers at Voice One. Abby, coincidently, also wrote this great copy for the promo!
'Full of Life'
This is a five and a half minute clip from one of my favorite authors, John Fante. Fante was very popular around the middle of the century, and was a huge influence on many writers. The book is 'Full of Life', and its a fictionalized account of a young writer and his wife having their first baby. The conflict is provided by Fantes' loving but overbearing family. It's a wonderful, witty book and there are lots of terrific characters in the novel, and you can hear two of them on the demo-the rough and tumble family priest and the exasperating, old school father of the writer.
Full of Life-Part 2
This is part 2 of this great book with both male and female dialogue in this section.
Icarus and Daedalus
This is a storytelling excercise featuring some Greek mythology. The target age is young grade school children.
The Yiddish Policeman's Union by Michael Chabon
This is a 5 minute clip from one of my favorite writers, Michael Chabon. The section entails the first 3 pages of this stunning, noirish, pulp masterpiece!
The Yiddish Policemans Union Part 2
This is part two of this great book. It features both male and female dialogue, and some character stuff.
'The Public Burning' by Robert Coover
This is a four and a half minute excerpt from one of my favorite writers, Robert Coover. 'The Public Burning' is a stunningly original and daring novel. The excerpt deals with the fantastical cartoonish superhero 'Uncle Sam' confronting Supreme Court Justice William Douglas, concerning the scheduled Rosenberg executions. This novel is a classic, vital parody of American politics.
The Lump of Coal
This is a fun section from Lemony Snickets cutting edge childrens Christmas fable. It has several character voices in the cut.
State by State by Sean Wilsey
This is a great section from the new travelogue about each and every state in the US. It's a very straight forward piece of narration about one mans noble yet quirky journey.
Shadow Box by George Plimpton
This is a sample of biography done by one of the great sports and society writers of any generation, George Plimpton. Here he writes about the surreal circus of boxing.
