Job Description

The recording is part of PhD research on accent evaluations of English speakers in Japanese universities.

Price is negotiable and I need them to be recorded on 3 separate mpeg tracks.

There are 3 short passages to be read with 2 second pauses before and after each passage.

I am looking for voices ages 20-42 with a broad English female voice 'low-status' variety of English (ie, not RP; not ethnic English).

THE SCRIPT


Passage 1 (Don't read heading)

Good morning, everybody. Beautiful Monday morning, isn’t it? Welcome to today’s information session. To start, some important announcements: there’s free tea and coffee upstairs, and toilets are on level one. Today’s meeting will go from 9 to 5. After today’s session, everybody’s welcome to join us for light refreshments. Finally, there’s no smoking in any part of the building. If you want to smoke, you need to go outside. Alright, let’s get started…

Last Saturday, I went to a Japanese restaurant around 8:00. It was my friend’s birthday, and we tried Japanese food. It was my first time; I’d never tried raw fish before. Even though, I had a good time, I had to leave early. My father has been in hospital. He’s okay now though...

Passage 3 (Don't read heading)

I usually watch TV before I go to bed. Last night, I was watching TV. There was a show on famous tourist attractions in Japan like Disneyland. My friend visited Nara and Kyoto last year, during cherry blossom season, he went to many places. The only problem was - when he was coming back home, the airline lost his bags!
