John Cavanagh
Glasgow, United Kingdom
Highlights
I am Scottish, but I don't have a strong regional accent. However, I can cover a wide range of dialects and vocal styles. I have a three octave vocal range for singing, so my voice is also able to cover a wide age range. I can adapt to many different characters and have a particular aptitude for imitating voices.... I've been employed several times to impersonate Alan Freeman, with permission from the man himself when he was around! During a stage performance in 2009, I had to appear in character as both a speaker of a broad Dundonian (Scottish) accent and imitating the late Delia Derbyshire, the woman who realised the original Doctor Who theme!

Service Description
I have presented radio shows for the BBC since 1990, working across all five U.K. networks (and playing everything from heavy rock on Radio One to opera on Radio Three!), plus BBC Radio Scotland, World Service/Radio International etc.
I've worked as a commercial voice-over artist since 1991 and have also appeared as the voice of an installation piece at the Tate Modern, narrated tv & film documentaries and introduced live music events - from Bon Jovi at Wembley Stadium to the Islay Jazz Festival in Scotland's Western Isles.
Aside from broadcast work, I make music under the name Phosphene, I've written a book about the early days of Syd Barret-era Pink Floyd, which I narrated for the Audible.com audio library in 2009. I produce records and, in 2009, took part in my first stage show, a one-man performance as part of Glasgow's Arches Live festival.
