The creation of her character, Mrs. Kangaroo, was based on her talent as a voice-over artist. (She wore a heavy costume, which required her to communicate mainly with movements and particularly with her voice via microphone, because her face could not be seen.) She made her character extremely likeable. Our clients have reported that the children connect directly with her character in an important way. This has been in large part because of Liz’s warmth and sense of humor, and ability to communicate in a soothing, nurturing way. In the performance, Liz sings, dances, and creates comic moments. After each performance, the children crowd around her in her costume, hugging her and hanging on her, asking many questions and obviously very happy.
It has been a pleasure to collaborate with Liz as a partner. She is hard-working, generous with her time, very talented, reliable, extremely helpful, and brings a sense of fun to the process. She has also been willing to help with loading in and out, setting up, and other logistical elements. Her feedback was essential in the process of creating the script. We often laughed during rehearsals, which I attribute to her warm and outgoing personality.
