About James Highfield

My voice has a very wide range from low bass to mid tenor range. I can do vocal impressions, several accents and can easily do gruff voices or smooth and mellow narrator tones. I spent many of my early-late grade school years in community theater and have also been/ am involved with several non profit Voice Acting troupes (their focus mostly having been Comic Dubs, Visual Novels and Video Game Mods), and a few paid and unpaid games and game mods.

Other related skills are that I can Sing, Whistle and Play the Saxophone.

Currently I'm involved with a group voicing the multimedia comic called Homestuck, which at the time being stands at about 7000 pages and includes several flash animations, flash games and normal comic panels. It also features several albums of original music which we use for the videos exclusively. And though we are a non profit fan dub of the comic we are attempting to be as professional as possible, we keep a tight schedule of putting out new episodes every Monday, we have an editor, animators and a music committee. We keep in close contact just in case something needs to be fixed or something new must be done. And this troupe just recently celebrated its third anniversary with this schedule. I voice a character named Gamzee Makara, a stoner character that, for the better half of his appearance in the comic is mostly just the laid back, less than useful mellow guy with a whimsical attitude and a voice to match. But as time progresses and he runs out of the substance that he uses to get high he takes a turn for the worst. He develops very short fuse and goes on a crazy, religious based killing spree. His vocal patterns and tone change with this transition

I've also voiced for a Skyrim Mod called "Interesting NPC's Skyrim MOD" which one can find on the Nexus Forums. Skyrim is the newest installment in Bethesda's "Elder Scrolls" video game series. The "Interesting NPC's Skyrim MOD" is a non profit mod for the game that aimed to give the games Non Player Characters a little more personality and make talking to them a little more interesting. In this mod I voiced a Dark Elf named Eldar who owns a Junk Shop just outside of the city of Whiterun. A higher voiced character and an excellent businesses man who will literally get you to buy junk and pay him to take YOUR junk.

I was also cast in a game made by New Reality Studios called Data Hacker: Corruption as the god Vesuvious, angry and vengeful, who tries to stop the protagonists from reaching their ultimate goal.

I have been a Radio DJ for somewhere around 3 years now for my campus radio station doing my own show and advertizing student and campus announcements over the air, I also do the weather from time to time.

I've also done a small selection of product and website commercials for a few clients.

I have also been in several plays in a variety of roles (Musicals and Dramas):
A Christmas Carol - Marley
Grease - Johnny Casino and Chorus
The Man of La Mancha - Don Quixote/Alonzo Quijana/Don Miguel De Cervantes
The Wizard of Oz - Zeke/The Cowardly Lion
The Diviners - C.C. Showers
Little Shop of Horrors - Voice of Audrey 2
Beauty and the Beast - Gaston
West Side Story - Action
