Boshia Raejean

New York City, New York, US

Highlights

“I’ve honestly been ahead of the curb, and it’s been that way since I could remember”

Born in New Jersey, raised in Newark and Orange, international recording artist Boshia Raejean began developing her creativity early on, in fact by the age of three she was dancing on stage, by eight she was playing the clarinet, at eleven she began to show her writing potential and by the time Boshia hit thirteen it was clear that performance art was her calling.

Being raised by her single mother, after her father was locked up in jail, the hardships she faced early on ingrained a resilience in young Boshia which impacted her in such a way that can clearly be seen and felt in her honest, raw and positive artistry as she began to explore her identity and spiritual history, questioning her intentions and way of life.

A flash into the future, Boshia aka Young Muslimah; an unapologetic African American Muslim revert & raw and sincere artist, wears her heart and mind on her sleeve both in her music and in connecting with her supporters. Her online social presence has empowered many women across the globe, and has quickly become an positive representative and champion for unity and self love,

Representing a futuristic sound and vibe, known as the Nuwave, Boshia’s music is the future, now, and yet somehow timeless, as she rhymes about her reality and pressing issues that affect all humans. Never afraid to dig deep into real issues, many that go unspoken, like her single “In my Head Again” ft ABIODUN from the Last Poets, that focuses on the effects of PTSS; Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome. Boshia commands the mic & holds her weight amongst heavyweight rhymes like her feature on veteran MC Mazzi’s record “Freedome” alongside Quadir Lateef of the Ruff Ryders from The Building album. Performing at New York City’s Soul in the Horn the same stages that Talib Kweli, Erykah Badu, Bilal and Lady Bug Mecca performed on, Boshia is clearly a powerful upcoming force in music and fashion, naturally becoming a musical success and an international tastemaker.

Her newest single Qnowledge, an Afrobeat meets Cross-cultural anthem that inspires and empowers the centennial woman to “go and get her Qnowledge and to question everything ”. Boshia’s intention is clear, and it’s to empower all women globally to recognize their individual power and spark the pathway to seeking truth, new insights and knowledge, or Qnowledge as Boshia coins it; an endearing ode to her female supporters; her fellow Queens. This single is also meant to remind Muslim women to not be passive in their study of their Deen (spiritual path) and to seek deeper understandings.

As powerful as Boshia’s message and aura is, it’s clear she is just getting started, with plans to release a three part post-apocalyptic themed series titled OPPYM broken down into 3 missions expressed over 3 EP’s with 3 differing vibes and sounds.
OPPYM1, the first EP in the series, is set to be released November 15. The excitement for the futuristic series is palatable as Boshia states “I always wanted to do a project like this, that would express my artistry with the muse being my own mind while slowly stripping away my ego until nothing is left , but what’s meant to come next. The future isn’t only female, it’s a Young Muslimah.
