I am authoritative but conversational...an accurate reader who can handle complex wording, structures, and pronunciations. I'm that well-versed next-door neighbor you trust to explain politics or cars or investments.
For fiction, I provide a strong narrative but don't go overboard with self-indulgent characterizations. In other words, I keep the story moving and clearly delineate characters, but I stay out of the way and don't make it about me showing off the number of voices I can do.

I've narrated eleven audiobooks, and in the past I've worked as a narrator for industrials. My background includes stints as a TV and radio news anchor and talk show host. I also voice many on-camera and voice-over instructional pieces as part of my work as a college journalism professor.
I am national chair of the broadcast judging division for the National Headliner Awards, one of the nation's largest and oldest awards recognizing journalism excellence, sponsored in part by the Atlantic City Press Club.
I hold a Ph.D. in journalism and media.
I received voice training from David Blair McCloskey, author of "Your Voice at Its Best."

Depending on project, of course. Audiobooks usually a few weeks; shorter stuff in a couple of days.
I have a great deal of experience with the written and spoken word, and can lend some expertise there. I have written 21 books and have been a reporter and editor, so I know how to shorten and add impact.
A review on Amazon of "George Rogers Clark: I Glory in War" -- "Narrator Carl Hausman's masterful rendering of the text brings the account to life though his distinctive ability to translate a deep understanding of the material into a lively vocal interpretation that substantially enhances the listener's experience by creating a vivid sense of the setting and of the varied personalities and quirks of the major characters of this deeply interesting account. Hausman uses his wide-ranging vocal skills and cadenced delivery to convey the story with energy and nuance."Here are some reviews from my audiobooks....
An Amazon Review of "The Lost Stagecoach" - "I listen to a lot of audiobooks and can speak to how much an eloquent narration adds to the experience. Carl Hausman gives a beautiful rendition but knows enough to stay out of the way. Some narrators, particularly in Westerns, over-do it with phony accents and over-the-top characterizations. This audiobook is perfect because the focus in on the story and I think author Jeff Breland and narrator Carl Hausman are natural storytellers."
From "The Power Within" reviewed on Amazon - "This audio book encouraged me to face my fears...I did not, but that's ok. I received extra encouragement the dulcet tones of narrator Carl Hausman. Why is this man not narrating every movie trailer these days?"
