I have a deeper female voice but it is smooth. I can read in a higher pitch, more deeply or softly. I can sound like a man, woman, teen or child. I love to read aloud to children. If I am reading something written from one of the great writers of the south like Eudora Welty, I will actually read aloud to myself in her southern voice. I do this with other writers as well. I find it helps me express the author and be in the story. I read for teens and all ages of adults. I read poetry in the voice emotion of my poems and others work. I like to do characters in children's books. When I read Frog & Toad to my grandchildren I read each of their voices. I read other's writing in public as well as my own. I use the voice the writer is writing in. I do like reading characters. I have always wanted to read audio books. I have listened to many where the reader was completely wrong for the story. It really takes away from the work. Inflection, emotion, sound and type of voice are so important in getting a good book across to the listener. As a writer of stories and poems I know how important is to be a good writer but also to record yourself and listen to the work first. It not only helps me write quality work, it helps the audience to hear what is being expressed. I have never worked in this field though I have always wanted to. I was a professional graphic designer, photographer in Public service and private industry for over 30 years. Try me. You like me.
