Hi. I sincerely appreciate your interest and will let you down. I've built a reputation on dependability and quick turnaround. You will never be disappointed.
--------
Hal has a long background in radio, TV, stage and podcasts. A personable, friendly voice, conveying subject knowledge and confidence. While bringing much experience into my voiceover career, he is grateful for the instruction provided by people like J. Michael Collins, Bill Dewees and the voices staff.
A guy next door sound that you can trust.
He provides a strong, competent delivery for a variety of script styles covering technical, manufacturing, sales, marketing, documentary and other topics. Call on Hal for commercials, or narrate documentaries, training and explainer videos, technical programs, religious, spiritual or self improvement message for video, whiteboard animation or audiobook.
Hal is the perfect voice for your training, marketing, explainer and educational or informative white boards, videos or IVR (Interactive Voice Recognition). You know, the "phone trees" we all love.
Depending on your script requirement, Hal can be a smooth, natural, warm, folksy, caring, upbeat, energetic, engaging, authoritative, sophisticated, passionate, personal, inviting, conversational, compassionate, believable, trustworthy and engaging story teller or he can have a tough, rough, gruff, explosive, kind, fatherly or grandfatherly sound. While the father role comes naturally, he can stretch to more demanding roles like brother, uncle, nephew or even a cousin. On stage Hal has played an amazing credible grumpy old man character and a far-too- jolly Santa Claus. He was even a singer in Secret Garden.
Documentaries and long form story telling are naturals. He has also developed original character voices for cartoons. Hal is experienced in creating vocal projects that suit movie trailers as well as medical, scientific, political, retail, corporate and educational work. Accents include Australian. Canadian, New York and New Jersey.
Hal is a product of turbulent times. The second world war was in its infancy when he was born in a city that was area of confluence for people going north and south by land and east and west by water- Cincinnati, Ohio, known as the Queen City or the Gateway to the South. “Cincy” is a picturesque river town on the Ohio River, nestled between Ohio and Kentucky hills. As a child, Hal did not have to go far to be influenced by a mix of humanity that came to settle in his home town. The area was a destination for German, British and Irish immigrants as well as many African Americans and Caucasian southern Americans. While there was a wide range of people appearance-wise, there was also a considerable mix of accents. Being a natural born people “watcher”, the area was a palette from which he could paint characters in his mind. It's no wonder that as a voice artist, Hal can convey a variety of emotions and character types, a wide range of vocal variations including friendly, sincere, natural, creepy, funny, sarcastic, calming, guy next door, deadpan, authoritative, friendly, caring, professional, believable, amusing, high energy, confident, crazy, playful, pompous, serious, motivational, happy, sophisticated, confessional, explosive, extreme, humorous, antagonistic, ominous, sweet, thoughtful, cocky, smooth, mature, dangerous, hard sell, concerned, uplifting and folksy, too.
No matter the project, Hal provides class A delivery and audio productions. In addition to his natural, personable delivery he has created unique character types, such as men who have booming or gravely voices, those who are husky or raspy, burly or urban, cowboy, country folk or superhero, coach, game show host, announcer, bully. Although a card carrying member of generation W, Hal can cover Generation X, Generation Y, midlife, father or grandfather, preacher, surfer dude, newscaster, elderly, royal or a snob, he has created cartoon characters, been a retro and nerd, a mobster, romantic or one with a soft-spoken lyrical voice.
If you're looking for a sound like Morgan Freeman, Bill Clinton, Tiny Tim, Tommy Lee Jones, Liev Schreiber, Lauren Bacall, Tom Bodett, Barry White, Tim Allen, Mike Rowe, Sam Shephard, Burl Ives, Donald Trump, or Barach Obama Hal can promise you the same high degree of passion, or more, in conveying your message. Hal firmly believes his delivery will be much more effective than a celebrity sound-alike impression and wonders why anyone would risk losing the audience's attention to listen to the messenger.
