Hello, my name is Matthew Black. I am a fifteen year-old aspiring actor/voice actor.
I am interested in the field of entertainment, specifically that of providing voice-overs for animated movies, cartoons, commercials and video-games. I am also highly capable of performing live-action sequences, and am already ambitious about becoming an actor for television (Interestingly enough, I have had a serious urge to become a cast member of the show Gotham for the past week or so). I have been a part of my high school's drama club since the first week I was able to join, and am frequently told that I have substantial skill in the field of acting.
The reason I believe that I am qualified to become some sort of actor is that I have an excellent memory, therefore guaranteeing a reasonably adept performance in scripted acts. I am a master liar and improvisationalist, which allows me not only to find my way out of any sort of problem before it completely unfolds, but also lets me have strong control over any sort of improv game or show. My most useful skill, though, would be that I am capable of extending and expanding my voice to thousands of various possibilities, one of which is rather well-known at my school, the "Narrator Voice." I frequently do impressions of celebrities such as Morgan Freeman and Steve Irwin, and characters such as Batman, Smaug, and The Joker. I am slowly beginning to discover that with my vocal chords no voice is impossible, and have known for a while that work as a professional voice actor would be easy.
I have recently begun the process of enrolling in the Oregon Children's Theatre, and hope to discover much more about the world of stagecraft and otherwise. Of course, the one missing step to achieving this supposed job as an actor would be the actual career path itself.
