Acclaimed voice actor, Rodney Saulsberry, dubbed Imani Brooks-Wheeler as “a beautiful voice with a bright future”. He was literally awe-stricken during a casual conversation with her and encouraged her to pursue the remarkable world of voice overs. This gifted muse has also studied under one of the most brilliant female voice coaches in the US: Bettye Zoller. After having worked with Imani one-on-one, the legendary voice actor said, “Wow. You are so beautiful and talented.” Don’t just take the word of these two dynamic industry professionals (feel free to Google them); listen for yourself! Imani’s voice is crisp like the sound of crimson and amber leaves beneath tender feet. It’s refreshing like a stream surging through the desert - natural and free. Imagine the warmth of a lavender sunset kissing the clouds or the allure of cherry blossoms tickled with morning dew. These are just a few descriptors for the wondrous gift of this young woman. So, sit back and let her vibrant montage lead the way!

Imani Brooks-Wheeler’s voice is second-to-none. From 1997 - 2000, she was an on-air announcer at Hampton University’s WHOV 88.1FM – consistently voted the number one college radio station by the Gavin Radio Awards. During her tenure, she enraptured listeners with her inviting and vigorous tone in the genres of gospel and jazz. At the onset of her broadcasting experience, the Gospel Express was only a two-hour show featuring three announcers. Within one year, the program gained unprecedented momentum with a following of approximately 60,000 listeners. The station manager gladly extended the air time to a four-hour format with Imani also embracing the role of Gospel PSA Director. She connected with community leaders, captured the vision of their organizations and articulated it through intriguing original copy. Imani was hailed as an extraordinary leader with tremendous charismatic appeal, winning both the “Best Morning Show” and “Best New Announcer” after only just one year as a broadcaster! She also received numerous commendations in the local Tidewater area (Hampton Roads, Norfolk, Virginia Beach) and beyond. She was personally solicited by spiritual leaders to introduce world-renowned gospel artists at sold-out venues – most notably Fred Hammond at the annual Thanksgiving concert sponsored by Rock Church in Virginia Beach.
She has embraced a very rewarding career intertwining her love of media, mentoring, ministry and music. She worked at GlobalHue, the nation’s largest multicultural advertising agency and honed her craft on the other side of the production world. She also delved into entrepreneurship as an independent contractor providing an array of media services. In record time, her remarkable wit and creative genius caused opportunities to come towards her. Among the most momentous occasions was a personal invitation to provide contractual public relations services for MegaFest by T. D. Jakes Ministries. She warmly welcomed the honor of being a workshop clinician for the Southwest Regional Conference of the Association of Christian Schools International. She was personally referred by a business colleague to launch American Apparel Resources (dba Dickie's) southwest region's marketing initiative to the Hispanic community. These are just a few of the many achievements that Imani has solidified during her rich career.
Imani Brooks-Wheeler is a world traveler and had the honor of being a Rotary Youth Exchange Alumna by being selected as their delegate to Barcelona, Spain when she was only 16-years-old. This rewarding experience solidified her passion for Spanish culture and fine-tuned her communicative abilities in both written and verbal communique. Moreover, Imani's amazing media skills have also provided the opportunity to serve as the Assistant Media Director and Chaplain to the Athletes for her mission team at the 2012 London Olympics. Her assignment to that post received international praise as it was heralded in Christian Today Australia online. Her communications background has served as a wonderful segue into the art of pastoral care. She was selected from a vast candidate base to study chaplaincy both at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, TX and at UCLA Medical Center – Santa Monica, CA. Now, armed with a greater sense of personal integration and reflection, she’s ready to explore the world of voiceovers and composition as a BMI songwriter. Truly, her talent has no boundaries.

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Imani for well over a decade. We first met while she was an on-air personality for Hampton University’s radio station, WHOV 88.1FM. Known as “The Gospelady”, Imani brought tremendous professionalism to her position, sounding like a seasoned veteran across the airwaves. She served as an inspiration to me and has influenced my decision to be involved in the world of radio today. Imani was always very knowledgeable about the music she played and the artists she interviewed. Always looking to represent the Kingdom with excellence, Imani quickly became one of the most popular gospel on-air personalities in the area. As she has moved forward in her career, professionalism and excellence remain her trademarks and she brings these elements to everything she touches.Gerard Bonner, Founder of Bonnerfide Radio and Co-founder, Gospelflava.com
Imani Brooks-Wheeler is a woman of courage, intelligence and integrity. I met Imani during her sophomore year in college at Hampton University. As the result of an amazing interview that she conducted with one of our artists, William Becton, she landed an internship position at CGI Records. I was the regional promotions manager at the time. Within a short period of time, Imani became a vital member of our team. She assisted in the areas of college promotions, tour support and grass roots marketing. It didn’t matter that it was a non-paid position; Imani unselfishly gave her time and energy to our department. Following the internship, Imani maintained contact with our core team which led to her assisting me on special projects. I was just starting my own company, so her insight was extremely helpful and valuable. Her intelligence and charisma was evident in verbal and written communication. Moreover, Imani demonstrates integrity. She worked in my home during the start-up phase of my business. She respected the privacy of my home and family and I never felt vulnerable. I am so glad to have her as an incredibly valuable member of my team!April Washington, CEO of Habakkuk Music, Inc.(subsidiary of Universal Music Group)
