I AM A 56 YR. OLD RETIRED NYC EXPRESS BUS DRIVER. ON EACH TRIP INTO AND OUT OF NYC I MADE ANNOUNCEMENTS AS TO THE PASSENGERS DESTINATION POINTS FOR EACH STOP.
DAILY, PASSENGERS WOULD COMMENT ON HOW IMPRESSIVE, DISTINCTIVE AND ELOQUENT MY VOICE WAS AND THAT I SHOULD PERSUE A CAREER AS A PERSON WHO DOES VOICEOVERS AND THAT I SHOULD DO A READING.
I SAW AN ARTICLE IN OUR LOCAL NEWSPAPER ABOUT VOICEOVERS AND VOICES.COM WAS NOTED SO I FIGURED I'D GIVE IT A TRY.
THE ANNOUNCEMENT I DID ON THE TRIP INTO NYC WAS, " THE FIRST SCHEDULED STOP IS 96TH STREET AND FIFTH AVENUE. FOR YOUR SAFETY, PLEASE REMAIN SEATED TIL THE BUS REACHES EACH DESTINATION. THANK YOU". BEFORE LEAVING THE 96TH STREET STOP I'D ANNOUNCE, "THE NEXT STOP IS 84TH STREET", AND SO ON TIL I REACHED THE END OF THE BUS TRIP.
I WAS THE ONLY DRIVER THAT DID THIS TYPE OF ANNOUNCEMENT FOR MY PASSENGERS. THE OTHER DRIVERS WOULD SIMPLY SAY "96TH STREET", ETC..
