About Susan Tackenberg

Overview

My voice is a well-modulated alto, warm, deep and positive for narration or educational and training work. It is confident and authoritative for presentations. For commercials and video or computer games it can be sexy and smooth, fun and friendly or a character voice. I can deliver characters sustainably, as well as accents. In Germany, a slower delivery is preferred (even in English), so my demos are slowish - speeding up isn't a problem.

Service Description

I bring authenticity, credibility and warmth to scripted material. I have over 30 years of experience, so I'm fast, will recognize and assist in correcting any errors in the script. I am good at taking direction and enjoy working with professionals. I also assist and support less experienced producers.

Experience

I have worked for a wide range of organisations in Germany (both German and English) and the US. I translate and write scripts (also lip-sync), have localized games, and have worked regularly for companies such as Deutsche Bank, Siemens, BMW, Mercedes, Degussa, AEG, Deutsche Bahn, SwissRe, Zurich Insurance, etc. etc. My work range includes: feature films, documentary and wildlife films, tv and radio commercials, e-learning and web-based training programmes including YouTube cosmetics series, IVRs, audio instruction systems for the blind, GPS programmes, in-car communications centres, guide information for museums, zoos and art galleries, intranet and internet financial reports and AGMs... you name it and I've recorded or written it - or both! I translated and narrated the Lufthansa inflight video magazine programme for 25 years, and the Condor video magazine for over 5 years, until they stopped production in 2010. My voice has trained BMW mechanics and sales staff around the world, taught Eurofighter pilots which toggle switch to touch when releasing their lethal weapons or ejecting from a burning aircraft - and how not to get them mixed up! I have voiced characters in video games (and even received fan mail!) and I also produce voice sessions. I have worked in studios throughout Germany and in London but with access to an online client base, now work in studios in Frankfurt and upload the work to FTP servers or Dropbox etc.
