My "normal" voice has an ageless (though adult) quality, is not high-pitched, but not low enough to scare anyone. I can certainly "do" a man's voice, a child's voice, whatever is called for, with a few exceptions, as my ability to mimic voices has been very astute since childhood.Read More
I would be glad to do voice-over work for any kind of assignment.(Except porn!) I have a great acting ability when it comes to this work, and can cover a wide range of emotions effectively. (Teaching drama a lot helped!) Commercials for radio or TV, documentaries, video narration...I welcome all challanges! Kids' voices, teens' voices, dogs' "voices"...as well as accents from all over the US and British Isles. I am well-read and have a rather extensive vocabulary, so there isn't much risk of me ever mis-pronouncing a word or putting inflection on a "wrong" part. (I hate that when I hear it!)Read More
My last year of college, I tried for and got an internship position at the local PBS radio station, where I trained during the Morning Edition segment. After one week of compiling traffic data and writing copy for Ed Tillett, he asked me to go live with the traffic updates myself. I was the first intern to be asked to do this at WHRO in Norfolk, though there may have been others since. I was asked to do the voice-overs on four commercials after that, two of which I had also written, for CDS Studios in Virginia Beach, Va. These commercials aired for years down in North Carolina, and may be airing still for all I know. Metro Traffic asked me to become their first on-air traffic reporter for their morning and evening TV news broadcast for the local NBC affiliate, but I was conflicted at the time with another opportunity, and didn't take the job, which I had been told was mine if I wanted it...Still kick myself sometimes. Was also offered my own night-time radio music program down in Manteo, NC, but also passed on that out of concerns with safety (and at the urging of a new boyfriend who didn't want me to move-He is now my ex-husband, and if I could, I'd still be kicking him as well.) For the past 9 years, I've been a substitute teacher with York County Schools, and find my ability to use and change my voice to be an asset. (The unruliest students can be shocked into complete silence when my German "twin" comands them to sit and be quiet or begins to harshly count from 5 to one in Deutsch...) So really, I've had more "experience" using my vocal abilities than it seems. I have also sung as far back as I can remember and write and perform my own songs. (I can sing in many famous singer's voices, but have worked hard to find one that is uniquely my own.)Read More
