Hello,
I have ZERO Radio or Voice Over experience on my resume but plenty of Technology/AV/IT experience. Most of my life I have been told I have an amazing radio or voice over voice, my great uncle Fred Hoey was an announcer for the Red Sox so it could be genetic. I have DJ’d for a number of years at a pirate radio station in Massachusetts many many years ago called WHDL & WYME, there was some FCC intervention and it was a local news story many years ago. I’ve also done lots of convention center PA announcing. The radio field, on air personality, is such an incredibly hard career path to crack into. I’ve always been really good technically and that career path paid well and was always easier to navigate and use to pay my mortgage and raise a family, I’ve never had an opportunity to explore this field as there has always been bills to pay and getting a degree in communications and interning places to work up the ladder just simply wasn’t an option for me, gotta pay the bills right?
Anyway… I am about to be in between jobs and before I jump right into the next technical job that I find, I am extremely curious as to what the industry may offer as a change in career path, an opening into an otherwise tough to enter industry.
