About Z Deciga

Hello and Hola! I am Zuleika ‘Z’ Deciga, a born and raised native of Mexico City with 16 years of Spanish (Mexican & Neutral) voiceover work. In recent years, my voice work has expanded to include English with a world and Spanish accent as well.

I see myself as an ambassador of the new generation of women who are changing the way the Latino community is seen in the US. One of my favorite projects I’ve worked on was for Mindyeti, a project that was designed to bring meditation to Hispanic kids in elementary school. I strongly believe that creating positive messages of love and self-esteem can change the way Latino children see themselves.

Making a difference in my community is important to me, as well as educating others about Latin America. I love talking to my clients about the cultural differences behind the meaning of one word, the accents, the sense of humor, and the trendy words teenagers use in Spain, Argentina, and Mexico City versus the words latinos use in the US. My job allows me to become a bridge between 2 cultures.

Through hosting the radio show, ‘Rock Radical’ in Seattle, a show about Latin alternative music, as well as creating my own podcast,"LatinX Music", I have been able to share my passion for music with others. My podcast is about alternative music of all genres made by Latin American artists. Because it is bilingual, LatinX Music has become popular all over the world. I have listeners from Finland, South Africa, Japan, Turkey, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and the US.

Continuous learning is imperative to my craft. I am constantly growing and striving to hone my skills by attending conferences related to my field and staying up to date with new inspirations and trends. I attribute this to my dynamic and competitive lifestyle; the more challenging the task, the better. Every year I participate in Polar plunges, HIIT tournaments, and play competitive tennis. My new adventure is learning how to rock climb per the request of my 2 daughters. If you need a go getter and hard hitter then we are a perfect match!
With my experience comes a level of professionalism and knowledge that will surpass your needs and qualifications. My multicultural proficiency is able to reach a larger clientele and create long lasting relationships. Let’s connect and make some amazing recordings together. I cannot wait to meet you!

Let me tell you a little bit about myself. My work began with a BA in Journalism and Communication from National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). I’m a curious person who is always interested in learning new things, which inspired my teachers to recommend me for internships in different media outlets. This led me to a job working on the production team of a TV program. Later, I moved to a news radio station. Simultaneously, I was writing articles for a magazine and a newspaper. After that, I worked in a voice over agency. Then, I took a break to come up to Seattle and I studied 1 year of English. I came back to Mexico, graduated and worked as a producer in a production company. When I was there, I voiced some TV & radio spots. By then, I had completed my second year studying commercial voice overs and dubbing. The month before my permanent move to Seattle, I was being trained in a radio station to be their next radio DJ. Little did know that my husband would soon propose to me, and we would complete our move to Seattle. My dreams came true when I started my radio show, ‘Rock Radical’ a musical show about Latin alternative music. Music is one of my passions, and this led me to create my own podcast,"LatinX Music". My podcast is about alternative music of all genres made by Latin American artists all over the world. Because it is bilingual, LatinX Music has become popular all over the world. I have listeners from Finland, South Africa, Japan, Turkey (maybe because of my arabic name), Chile, Colombia, Mexico and the US. Curious? Google it! "LatinX Music Podcast"

But still my spirit was moving me to pursue voice overs and in 2004 I started my voice over career in the US. My persistence and grit finally paid off after 1 year of pursuing my dream when I became one of the voice over talents on the roster of my first agent, Ernie Pino.
That was the beginning of my professional VO career until now!

You might recognize me in the GPS model for established brands such as BMW, Renault, Nissan, US Toyota and Latin American markets. My voice has been used in television, radio & internet spots from multiple clients like Amazon, Expedia, Zulily, The Mariners, Shoe Carnival, McDonald’s, and Starbucks. Among others, I’ve worked with Nuance, one of the companies that developed voice-to speech technology. My voice was used as the first generation Mexican Siri before it was used in Google. Then I became the Spanish version of Google Cortana and the voice of Android in their software. I can also be heard in Dragon software as “Angelica.” I have been featured in industrial videos for Walmart, Hewlett Packard. Some medical, financial and government institutions I have recorded for are: Amazon, Microsoft, Expedia, The City of Seattle, The World Bank, Savers and numerous more. As well as being a recording talent, I own and operate my production and casting company, ‘¡Si! Spanish Ideas’. Past jobs include fully producing projects for Papa Murphy's, Starbucks, DairyGold, C+C, Coinstar, Amazon Music, Committee For Children, Dreambox and many others.

“Zuleika, offers expertly recorded audio files in a timely manner. In the several years that I’ve used here for my Spanish project, I have never had an issue.  I have no problem recommending her for any voice recording needs.”
Art Basseth, Senior Implementation Consultant, Genesys

“Working with Zuleika is such a pleasure. More than any talent I’ve worked with over the years (especially in this era of online casting), she really strives to understand our projects, our audience, and the goals we have for each piece. Her warmth brings heart and soul to our product, and she’s incredibly easy to direct — which saves tons of time in the studio.”
