Akim, born and raised in New York City, started his vocal career early. During his college years he trained and worked at the college radio station WCWP 88.1FM. As an on-air personality there, he hosted and produced jazz and Japanese music programming in addition to lending his voice to production work for liners and PSAs (Public Service Announcements). His career highlights include interviews with jazz legend Eddie Palmieri and Japanese pop star Kubota Toshinobu. During this time Akim developed a distinct vocal style, which includes being deep, soft, clear and pleasant. Since coming to Japan Akim has maintained his skills by occasionally hosting his own radio shows online. He is also building new skills through vocal and improv training and is now looking to make an impact on the voice industry.
