Experience

I am a newbie to formal narration, but I have long held an interest in breaking into this exciting field. I have always enjoyed public speaking, and was accepted into the Columbia School of Broadcasting located in Northern Virginia. However, life intervened, and I was unable to pursue formal study. As a beginner, I understand I have a great deal to learn about voice over/narration, but I'm a quick study, and I'm open to all available opportunities. I have joined LibriVox, which is a promising opportunity to gain practical narration experience.

I am former Interpretive Supervisor at a very popular historic home in Northern Virginia. In that position, I was responsible for ensuring accurate and concise interpretations of the home as well as the life and legacy of the family based upon prescribed goals and objectives. During my tenure, I participated in a two-part national broadcast of a “Seed to Table” program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools in the Fall of 2007, which was broadcast frequently on the FCPS Television Network. In addition, I was a guest on a WPGC-Philadelphia live radio broadcast in January of 2008 wherein I discussed Black History Month activities scheduled at the site.

Currently, I enjoy my home-based transcription business. Highlights include:
o 10 years’ experience in transcription, editing, and proofreading;
o Proficiency in transcribing a wide array of communications, including legal proceedings, conference
and meeting notes, interviews, and verbatim dictation;
o Proven attention to detail;
o Recognized for initiative taken and efforts made in consistently meeting organizational missions and
goals.
o Acknowledged for exemplary work ethic resulting in satisfied customer base and referrals, and
increased per page rates..
