In 1999 I started doing production work for a small radio station in Aberdeen, Washington. My first client was the owner of a travel agency looking to increase his business with 30 sec. radio spots. I knew a woman, Virginia, many years before who had sort of a hillbilly way of speaking. I convinced the travel agent to let me record his commercials using the Virginia character. He was hesitant at first but we went ahead and produced two test spots.

They were an overnight smash. Everyone in this small town wanted to know who Virginia was and started calling the travel office. With all the attention coming his way he began booking more business. Other businesses wanting to advertise began calling the station requesting Virginia to be their spokesperson. I did several and eventually admitted on the air that I was a guy.

Not long after this I produced a set of hypnosis CDs that unfortunately didn't do well, though that wasn't due to poor voice or production quality, just poor marketing. During the 2000s I wrote and recorded audio messages for Internet marketers selling information products online. These promotions were overall successful, in part because using audio in a sales message at that time was a novelty.

I spent two years, 1999 and 2000 as an instructor for live events for a seminar company teaching stock market strategies, mainly swing trading and options trading. We taught the techniques and also sold from the podium. I was a very successful salesman but as time passed I became more uncomfortable with the company's methods, reputation and eventually left.

I've written several books that I ended up promoting as a guest on nearly 100 talk radio shows. The Streetsmart Homebuyer was one. Crash Course 2000 was another. The most recent was an Amazon best seller in Applied Psychology titled Dark Persuasion Techniques - The Psychology of Manipulation. I also produced a short promotional video for this book, which is available here as a sample.

Most recently I've been doing voiceover work for my own projects mainly featuring short explainer videos for my books and personal projects. I'm a natural born talker. If I were to identify my most relevant strength it would be that I'm able to explain complex concepts in a simple manner so others can easily understand them.

Aside from spending two years in Toastmasters International I have no industry-related associations or associations.

Service Description

There are two essential objectives many professionals lose sight of. The first is simple: What are you trying to accomplish? As elementary as this seems, I've found all too many folks simply assume things. They have an idea that may or may not be profitable and haven’t thought it through. I’ve seen it time and again, people that don’t have clear objectives going into a project often fall flat as they were uncertain from the start. What I bring to the table is experience in not simply having an idea of what the client wants, but to also help clarify and even develop a good concept into a great one.

The second item is who is your audience? Who are you targeting? So many entrepreneurs seem to think that their products have an infinite appeal to just about everyone. While that may be true in certain contexts, it's almost never true in a competitive business environment. I can be helpful in identifying your ideal customer base and then offer suggestions on how that might affect your message/presentation.
