Highlights

Dan Schaffer was born in Zanesville, Ohio. One of Dan’s earliest memories was that of his mother telling him not to be a show-off. Being a rebellious sort, he decided to make his living as a show-off.
Dan began his radio career in Cambridge, Ohio in 1967 as the morning show host on WILE Radio.

In 1968 Dan entered the United States Navy and was stationed with Submarine Squadron Four in Charleston, South Carolina.
Upon his Honorable Discharge as a Journalist Third Class Petty Officer Dan resumed his radio career as the morning host with WCSI in Columbus, Indiana. It was there that he began doing free-lance commercial work in Indianapolis. He worked extensively in the Indianapolis market, as well as for clients such as Bank of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky and Blue Cross of Indiana.

Dan’s next career opportunity was that of a news reporter at Country Music powerhouse WIRE in Indianapolis. It was there that he received the Indianapolis Press Club Award for Best News Story for his reporting during the 1972 local elections.

Dan moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where he hosted the morning program on KNIX-AM for Buck Owens Broadcasting. While hosting his radio show at KNIX, Dan was in high demand for commercial projects (radio and Television) for dozens of clients in Phoenix, Tucson, Flagstaff and Yuma. At that time Dan became a member of the Screen Actors Guild and AFTRA.

Continuing to work for Buck Owens Broadcasting, Dan moved to Bakersfield, California as the morning host on the Buck Owens’ Country Music flagship station KUZZ.

At that time, he began working acting and voiceover jobs in the Los Angeles market where he Guest Starred on “Hotel” for ABC Television Directed by James Brolin. He twice Guest Starred on “Growing Pains” with Alan Thicke, as well as Guest Starring on “The Practice” on ABC. Dan was a regular performer in special vignettes for NBC's “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”

Dan studied Improv Comedy with the Groundlings and was a member of the LA Connection Improv Comedy Troupe. He was also the on camera and voice host for Industrial Films for Toyota USA, Mazda, Isuzu, Bank of America and The Los Angeles Times.

He later broadened his horizons as TV Weather Anchor in 1990 for FOX 11 in Los Angeles, and KBAK-TV the CBS Affiliate in Bakersfield, California.

While studying with Carroll Day Kimble, Dan was cast to perform 14 voice characterizations for the Primetime Emmy Nominated and Oscar Nominated Documentary “Hank Aaron: Chasing the Dream” for Turner Productions, Denzel Washington Executive Producer.
