Danny Toy is a New York based voice actor whose joy for working both sides of the mic was born as a 19-year-old tape operator and producer at WOR TV, watching staff announcers work their magic at the station’s Times Square studios. A contemporary performer, he brings “old school” care, professionalism and attention to detail, to each of his clients, large and small.
As a disc jockey at legendary alternative WLIR / WDRE radio, Danny began writing and voicing characters for station vignettes and provided the voice for station imaging, there and at WRKS FM, New York.
Mentored by station owner and veteran voice actor Ron Morey, Danny began his first foray into commercial work. His commercial clients include Purolator, Nissan, Howard Johnson’s and Footlocker. He has spent time as staff announcer for New York’s MSG Network and has done promo work for ESPN, Discovery, The Learning Channel and MTV, among others.
When asked to provide character voices, he’s created everything from the fictional, gnarly “Big Harry Wave” for Coors Light, to the stately yet promiscuous Ben Franklin for an NBC Television Network documentary. Narration clients include Dow Jones, CableVision, Psi Interactive and New England Ski Areas Council.
As an announcer, Danny has hosted a nationally syndicated smooth jazz show on Sony & Warner’s joint “SW Networks”. His voice has been heard on the nation’s top radio stations, including WCBS, WNEW FM, WFAN and Z-100 in New York, WEEI Boston, WWJ Detroit, KRLD Dallas, WCCO Minneapolis and many others.
He also has extensive experience working with talent as a coach and mentor in local and regional programming roles for Westwood One.
