About TJ. Younge

Overview

I am a classically trained Piano musician who studied Piano from age 10 until my Freshman College year, when I had also learned to play a church organ . I was being groomed to become concertized however I stopped. In more recent years having three agents, one booked me for voice over work for a Bali Wood Indian film called The little Musician. On queue from a director/sound engineer I portrayed a little lost child, an angry fat woman and any number of sounds needed as a part of about five performers in a very hot and cozy sound booth. I also exercise my voice with practicing the standards and lots of Cabaret. Have had four vocal coaches over the years. One was a music teacher at The Julliard School the more recent was Karen Beardsley Peters. I have a natural range from second Alto to First Soprano.
I am a belter and Karen Peters connected from head voice with my chest voice which has broadened my repertoire is vocal tricks whether when speaking or singing.

Service Description

I am a healthy hybrid of a vivacious creative spirit grounded by sound business experience. Writing is my second love and is the reason I set aside my music. My mind is an on going tape of poems, comedy, and melodies. To date I have composed hundreds of poems. I'm compiling pieces written and others as I write them, to do a reading. While looking at a link to send some of my poetry shorts to greeting card companies for possible pay, I found Voices.com.

Experience

I was one of five in a small sound proof recording booth. The working title of the project was The Little Magician and it was going to be shown in India. We each took direction and we expected to take the initiative to produce the best sound for the scene. My parts included a young and frightened 10 year old boy, a fat woman and back ground reactions from passers bye. It was a last minute same day booking with a turn around time of from about 8:00 am until later that afternoon. I made sure each of my portrayals were audible, clear and consistent, and mirrored the description I was provided. Note worthy for a regional theater production I found my character by punching up one word in my dialogue. This resulted in me being cast in the female supporting role, in stealing every scene I was in and a number of autograph and glossy seekers waiting for me after the performance.

Education

The piano training was theory based with weekly lessons all school season culminating with a recital.
My vocal experience consisted of always being in vocal groups. This included being selected as part of an ensemble for the children's choir for the Union City Opera company for which I performed in Carmen, La Boheme, and other Opera's. As earlier mentioned have had at least four music coaches over the years. Have also had some acting coaches. Also participated in an off off Broadway boot camp to put on a Show at a the NYC cabaret club Don't Tell Mamma.

Testimonials

Through the years I have received validation from different professionals.
The Little Magician voice work booking resulted in high marks from the booking agent as per the client.
At one point I had volunteered to do some disc jockey work and was offered an opportunity in radio by Mr. Jim Kerr. Participation in an American Idol structured competition before a panel of judges from the music industry resulted in a consensus of opinion I could make money in intimate venues If I chose to.
Just to cite a couple of instances.
