Greg Young is a radio play-by-play professional with more than seven years of Minor League Baseball broadcasting experience and nearly a decade's worth of radio and TV play-by-play experience across various sports.
His voice and style is most like a sports public address announcer or play-by-play broadcaster. Young's sound is authoritative and matter of fact with a deep baritone.
Young was recently named the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the Carolina Mudcats, the Class A Advanced affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. Young is responsible for play-by-play of all games on the Mudcats Radio Network.
In 2014, Young became a member of the Double-A Tennessee Smokies and the highly regarded Smokies Radio Network. He previously worked with the High-A Modesto Nuts of the California League and called the 2011 California League vs. Carolina League All-Star Game. He began with the Nuts as a Broadcast Assistant in 2007 before being promoted as the team's new Director of Broadcasting the following year, a position he held through the 2011 campaign.
During his time with Modesto, Young also worked at KESP AM970 as a Sports Anchor. Over the years he has worked as a broadcaster for Comcast Hometown Network and their coverage of the San Jose Giants (High-A, California League) and Fresno Grizzlies (Triple-A, Pacific Coast League), in addition to high school football and basketball.
Young began his professional play-by-play career in 2006 when he became the radio voice of the California Cougars of the Major Indoor Soccer League.
