I am a nearly-retired high school Drafting and Engineering teacher with 12 years in the classroom and 27+ years of technical and managerial experience in the manufacturing and electric generation sector.
As a teacher, I am helping young people develop immediately useful skills in general drafting and 3D solid model creation. Additionally, I teach them problem solving skills following proven guidelines while encouraging creative, innovative thinking. Rather than teaching them to "think outside the box," I teach them to think that there is no box.
I also provide life lessons to my students, most of which are borne of personal experience. These life lessons help them understand the real world expectations and responsibilities they will experience as they transition from the safety of home and high school to their chosen paths of college, technical training, military service, or the world of work. Parents thank me more often for the lessons in life rather than in drafting.
More years ago than I care to remember, I was an on-air "personality" (back then we called them disk jockeys) at a small radio station in Fayetteville, NC and the love of the microphone never left me. I want to combine my enjoyment of performance with my love of teaching, my ability to communicate clearly and efficiently, and my skills in customer service as I build a third career as a voice actor for commercials, narrations, tour guides, and corporate training .
I have have a pleasant, mature, conversational voice and can sound neutral or mid-Southern (Piedmont North Carolina). I also have a few characters; an old man, a higher pitched, angry neighbor, and a deep South, very proper, socialite.
