Testimonials

Two Reviews of first (out of three) novel.

I seldom read thrillers, but this is a well written, fantastic, and absorbing read! It has a very interesting as well as a compelling story line that kept me interested right to the end. In fact, I found myself unable to put it down.

The author puts you right into it, he makes you actually feel the interaction between the characters. So much so, you will develop an intimate relationship with all of them.

Jonathan, the novel’s protagonist, becomes embroiled in a high technology espionage plot that goes beyond his initial intent. He also convinces his best friend Randy to join him. Celia and Nigel are adorable; I was rooting for them all the way. I’ll not tell you what eventually happens, but let’s just say, I was very happy for them. Then there is Wulff, a retired CIA operative. He is just what you would expect from a person who must make a living doing dirty deeds . . . and he does. I wanted to cry for Jonathan’s friend Randy when his lovely wife was taken by cancer.

There are so many delightful twists and turns in this story that takes place in Silicon Valley, I couldn’t begin to cover them in a short review like this . . . it’s as I image things really would happen if I were a fly on the wall watching this story progress. The characters become people that you really get to know. I was surprised, actually shocked when the killer was revealed, but once I knew, it all made sense. The only thing disappointing about this story is that it came to an end. I sincerely hope that the author Lucas James gives us another story to read. I’ll keep looking.
As thrillers go, I thought this one stacks up with the best of them. You have no idea who the bad guy is until the end, then it makes all the sense when the person is revealed. One of the better thrillers – actually, one of the better novels I’ve read for some time.

You can’t beat a good mystery, and this one is right up at the top on that score. But as a woman reader, I was particularly impressed with the author’s deft handling of Celia and Nigel. While they are not major characters in the story, the relationship between them enriches the plot tremendously. They appear three times in the novel – in the first chapter, somewhere close to the middle, and then toward the end. The other relationships in this novel are pretty much as you would expect in a thriller/mystery, but Celia and Nigel are very special. In fact, it would be a great idea if someone would extract the love scenes between these two and have a small pocket folder printed. The title of the little printed gem would be “How Men should treat the Woman They Love.” Or “How to make the woman in your life feel loved.” This novel is a very good read for anyone, but a very special experience for any women out there that fancy’s mystery/Thrillers.
