About Rava Raab
I am Rava (like lava) Raab, an actor, singer, songwriter, and playwright living in NYC.
My discovery of voiceover work began when I was about 7 years old and auditioned for the role of “Action Mary” in a Bible Adventure Game. I did not get this role, but it sparked an interest in voice acting!
I can represent the new mom, the excited teenager, the tech savvy employee, the friendly boss, the best friend with a secret, or the girl that knows it all!
I’ve been singing before I could talk and after multiple musicals and songwriting sessions, I have developed a great skill for improvisational harmonizing as well as arranging vocal harmonies by ear. I can present a classically trained mezzo-soprano voice to a Broadway diva belting voice to (my favorite) a bluesy folk singer voice.
In addition to singing, I have been training in Shakespeare, voice, speech, and rhetoric for quite a few years. I have a great understand of words and how to make the text sound as natural and informative as (Website hidden) has been a big part of my life since I was a kid and I love creating cartoon voices, laughs, and copy. When it comes to animation or video games, I can throw around quite a few fun characters including - rough and tumble little boys, sweet girls, young babies or toddlers, spunky teenagers, chicks with an attitude, popular high school girls, nerdy boys, Jessica Rabbit-esque ladies, evil warlocks, stoner, old witches, and fairy godmothers. I also love creating new characters and can take direction very well when it comes to tweaking characters I’ve already created.
I was raised in the south and have a natural knack for southern accents including Southern Belle, Northern Georgia, Redneck, Slight Drawl, and South Dixie Beauty Queen. Other than the Southern United States, I can do a classic New York, London, Cockney, Posh, Irish, French, and Valley girl. I am a big fan of learning new dialects, and if it is one I am unfamiliar with, I am able to pick it up quickly due to my experience with International Phonetic Alphabet. English is my native language, but I am comfortable doing copy in German as well.
I am new to the voiceover world professionally, but have had training for 2+ years.Read More
I have been involved in theater world since before I can remember. I attended a performing arts school from the age of 11-17, as well as attending the prestigious Stagedoor Manor for three years. After graduating a high school, I pursued further acting training thru Tom Todoroff Studio and Conservatory where I met Anna Garduno of VoiceForward. Anna has remained my coach since!Read More
