London, Ontario, CA
Hi - I am new to Voices.com, but not new to using my voice. My voice has always been involved in some form or another in my career, from being a speaker, a consultant, a private music teacher, an adjudicator, and a performer. I sing contemporary, jazz and classical music and have dabbled in jingle writing, performing and recording. For years I have thought about dedicating more time to voice acting, but wasn't sure how to go about this. So I was introduced to Voices.com by a local newspaper article in my city of London, Ontario and that is why I am here telling you about my interest in using my voice in yet another way.

Over the years, I have been involved in writing, producing and performing several local jingles. Beyond that, I have not found my way towards actual voice acting until now. My experience with my voice is both in speaking and singing for people. I have good vocal colour and production, and because of my background in teaching and training voices, I know how to use my voice in many ways. Technique for speaking and singing shares a lot of the same experiences. I have been involved in performance most of my life (remember, I checked off "middle aged" and that's all you are getting!) I am an active singer, arranger, songwriter, teacher and music consultant with roots steeped in traditional jazz, Latin, pop and classical. I am a founding member and leader of recording artists and award-winning vocal jazz group AFTER FOUR. I am also a conservatory examiner and travel throughout Canada hearing both voice and piano students in contemporary and classical music adjudicating their performances.
I started singing in public when I was four years old. I studied piano privately when I was young and eventually went to a private music school - at St. Joseph's School of Music in London, Ontario - and studied with the renowned Sister Calistus. I am an Associate Teacher and graduate of Conservatory Canada (formerly the Western Conservatory of Music) and I teach both classical and contemporary jazz voice, as well as classical and contemporary piano and theory at Aeolian Performing Arts Centre and in my home studio. I am also a singer/soloist and choral arranger with London Pro Musica Choir and ten-year member of their executive board; and am the Co-executive Producer of their latest CD Songs of the Land. I have worked with multi Juno award-winning producer Kevin Doyle on several CD projects, including the latest Karen Schuessler Singers CD project. As well, I have often performed in the core choir of London Symphonia , Canada. I have also worked with a variety of voice specialists from various universities in Canada and the U.S.
