The location for one of the most anticipated voice-over events of the year, FaffCon 7, was officially announced today.

The voice-over unconference will be held at the historical Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort and Spa in Tucson, Arizona from September 18th–21st, 2014.

This years’ location is sure to inspire creativity, collaboration, and community. Each of the resorts’ 241 ranch-style rooms are equipped with a balcony or patio area and are situated in villa clusters, giving the resort a neighbourhood-like quality. Westward Look boasts sprawling desert landscapes, mountainous views and, at the core of the resort, a meticulously preserved hacienda-style family home built in the early 20th century.

FaffCon 7 promises to be seriously social with new twists added to the itinerary, including peer-to-peer coaching and more.

Amy Snively, the event organizer, says, “We always do a ‘field trip’ to a local attraction. It’s the FaffCon version of a mixer—we all get to know each other sharing a fun activity. This time, since we’re staying at a cool resort, we’ve got a ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ menu of a la carte activities so people can get to know each other in smaller groups and really connect.”

Snively also indicated that most “Faffers” arrive on Thursday and depart the following Monday, so they’ve planned some adventures for  Thursday afternoon and Friday morning before the opening circle. Snively says, “On Saturday, when the Faffers are Faffing, we’ve got adventures open for ‘partners and progeny’ so, if you bring your sweetie and the kids, they can get in on the fun and meet the other families.”

On Sunday, there’ll be three sessions of one-on-one peer coaching for attendees to work on anything they need help with, such as a new genre or help tacking down copy for their next demo. There’ll also be three sessions of improv leading up to the Faffter party.

This year also marks the countdown to the Faff-Finale – FaffCon 10 in 2017. “We want to be able to end strong and on our own terms; like a solid TV series,” says Snively. “We’re still open to holding Faff Camp now and then and we’re sure there’ll be a Faffer reunion at some point, too. We just never want to jump the shark and fizzle out.”

FaffCon is an informal participant-driven peer event. Faffers will gather together to submit their session ideas and then decide on the agenda as a group. So, if you plan on attending, you’re encouraged to start brainstorming topics and begin planning your session presentation now.
