Typhoon Haiyan U.S. Marines Super Hercules November 11, 2013
Have you felt the call to donate financially to help the Filipino people affected by Typhoon Haiyan?
Earlier today, I received an email from a friend about a Public Service Announcement sharing information about the horrific typhoon that washed away lives, land and resources. The time to act is now.
Will you help?

Let’s Talk About The Philippines

On November 8th, 2013 the Philippine Islands were hit by the most powerful Typhoon in history, Haiyan, known locally as Yolanda. Five days later, the world, nor Philippine local authorities can calculate the total devastation. It will take months before we know how many precious lives were lost and years of rebuilding. Aid is on its way but the need is great.

Typhoon Haiyan / Yolanda Statistics

  • 195 mph winds with gusts up to 234 mph
  • 3.5 times stronger than Hurricane Katrina
  • Hovered over the Philippines for 48 hours
  • 10,000 estimated death toll and rising

A number of voice over talent, lead by Andy Boyns, recorded the PSA which was co-written by Herb Merriweather of the USA and Pocholo Gonzales of Creativoices of the Philippines. Gonzales produced the PSAs which describe the gravity of the typhoon as well as refer listeners to organizations accepting donations to be used in the relief effort.
Take a listen to the original PSA for a couple minutes now:

How To Give

I along with those voicing the PSA urge you to contact the Red Cross and any of the various Filipino agencies for specific details on how to target your effort. You can send your help through RED CROSS PHILIPPINES or JCI PHILIPPINES.

If you feel so led as a voice or broadcast professional, also consider sending donations via the Philippines Typhoon Relief Fund. Haven Ministries has partnered with Far East Broadcasting to bring physical and spiritual relief to Tacloban, Philippines following the most violent Typhoon in recorded history. Immediate relief efforts will arrive in two waves, consisting of Emergency “First Response” Radio Broadcasting and Humanitarian Aid.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those affected by Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda. Please send financial aid if you are willing and able.

Prayerfully,
Stephanie
