socal-earthquake.jpgEarlier on July 29, 2008 (today) there was an earthquake in SoCal (Southern California) that shook several communities and inspired voice actor Bob Bergen to produce a brief report in character detailing happenings to do with the quake.

The Associated Press reported that the 11:42 a.m. quake was initially estimated at 5.8 by the U.S. Geological Survey but was revised downward to 5.4.

  1. I was really shocked by this. I actually was woken up from this earthquake. But all is well on my end. My poor cat is still in a traumatic shock though. This was her first time feeling an earthquake. I hope she’ll be okay soon.

  2. Great field reporting by Porky, Marvin and Tweety. I hope that Porky recovers q-q-quickly.
Thankfully the media is reporting that there are no reports of death or injury and most damage seems to be confined to items being tossed off shelves and such.
We will certainly keep those affected in our thoughts and prayers – especially with talk about this being a precursor quake to a larger one to come.

  3. My cat’s a little freaked too.
Other than a bit of shaking and a few new cracks, everythings fine and dandy.
    Bob: funny stuff as always… oh, and I found Porky’s stammer… 😉

  4. To all our friends on the LEFT coast, we wish you the best!
Luckily, it wasn’t the “big one.”
On the other hand, the big news here, is that PORKY has lost his stutter.

  5. Whew! I survived. I thought it was a truck rumbling by, realized it wasn’t and stood in a doorway. Of course the news later reported that standing in a doorway is no longer advised. Glad it wasn’t the big one!:)

  6. I absolutely adore Bob Bergen! How cool! Anyway, I live a good 90 miles from the epicenter and was in pilates class at my local YMCA. It just sounded like someone with big clompy boots was walking on the roof. Not a big deal, but it was pretty weird seeing the shots of the water flowing out of the ceiling at LAX!
    All the Best,

  7. Leave it to Bob Bergen to find joy and humor even in a natural disaster. What an amazing asset to the VO community and the world at large you are, Bob! Thanks for the giggle, my toddler dug it, too!

  8. Ah, Bob – thanks so much – the laugh was much needed. I’m still a little freaked out and my poor cat is too. Just really scary stuff. Hoping that it’s a really, really long time before we get another.
