Starting today, we’re going to be having weekly Saturday Giveaways to show our appreciation to our readers and say “thank you” for subscribing to VOX Daily.
Kicking it off, there’s a copy of “Step Up to the Mic” by Rodney Saulsberry, a dear friend and phenomenal person, who also happens to be one of the most in-demand voice actors and lecturers around.
Rodney Saulsberry’s “Step Up to the Mic” is a book all about stepping up to life’s challenges and a positive approach on how to succeed from the perspective of a voice actor.
If you’re looking for an uplifting, empowering and nourishing book to read, you’ll want to comment here on VOX Daily for a chance to win this book!

  2. Hey Stephanie!
I haven’t had much of a chance to post lately… I hope all is going well and I will make an effort to get back to my regular posting! I would love to be entered to win Rodney’s book. I have a lot of respect for him. He’s one of our top people!
    Thanks, and be well everyone!

  3. I just recently bought Rodney’s other book “You can bank on your voice” and I’ll start reading it today. If I don’t win this book, I’ll buy it anyway. I heard Rodney’s commercial Zatarans and it was cool. I hope I win!

  4. This book, combined with my rugged good looks and witty repartee, will enable me to cause spontaneous ovulation among my female listeners. Count me in!

  5. I have been a newscaster, from local to network, for more than 30 years. I dabbled in voice over during this time, but over the past year or so decided to get serious about voice over work. The transition has proven far more arduous than I had anticipated. I am, therefore, always on the hunt for any books, blogs or articles that will give me insight on how to complete the transition and get regular voice gigs. It appears Rodney’s book would be an invaluable resource in that quest so if possible please send one my way.
    Many thanks,
    Tom

  6. I’d love to win Rodney’s book, Stephanie. But whether or not I’m chosen, this is a great idea! Thanks so much for implementing it. 🙂 All the best, — Jodi

  7. Stephanie,
It would be a thrill to have Rodney’s book.
He is a 5 star talent and a gracious gentleman who is always generous with sharing his experience and skills.
AND…..with business being a bit slow right now…I have PLENTY of time to read! ‘-)
    Cheers,
    dc

  9. Rodney is not only one of those great talents who are also GREAT TEACHERS, but he is also a great AUTHOR and one heck of a nice guy, as well! This is the only thing he’s written that I haven’t yet read, so please enter me too. Thanks and what a wonderful idea, Stephanie.

  10. Hello Stephanie,
I just signed up for a voices.com guest account today. I have been reading your VOX Daily for several months and I so appreciate all the wisdom, encouragement and fun that you put into your blog…even on Sundays! One day I hope to get into voiceover full tilt. Until then, I am learning as much as I can. Winning Mr. Saulsberry’s book would be a real help. Please enter my name.
Oh, and, an email to point out a tiny error on one voices.com website yielded several very enthusiastic email replies from one of your top 100 talents. I was very honored. This community is fantastic!

  11. This is serendipitous. I’ve spent the weekend trying to find a copy of this locally with no success. After first reading about it on Bob Souer’s boblog (and now here), it sound like just the tonic I need. While I believe it’s quite true that self-promotion and self-marketing are harder work than actual performance… many times just maintaining the confidence to present oneself is even more daunting. I find it especially true in a “business” where one is solitary so much of the time. It’s to Rodney’s credit that he focuses on this aspect of freelance voice work. So many books on voice acting barely acknowledge this major, major challenge in their efforts to be positive. So… If I don’t win this in a drawing, it’s off to amazon.com for me. Thank you for letting more know more.

  12. I think this is a great idea and I’d like to participate as a very happy member of the Voices.com community.
    Keep up the great work!
    Maria Berry

  13. Wow! What a great bonus to have free giveaways as well as a place to learn something new every day! Thanks for your “Dailies’ and the chance to receive some cool stuff that will help us on our VO path to greatness. I was fortunate enough to meet Rodney at a VO conference in Los Vegas last year and bought his CD “You Can Bank on Your Voice”. I would have bought his book but already had a pile of VO books on hand to read and wanted a few CDs to listen to while I was driving to further my education. It is a great CD if anyone wants to learn from him. I would love to get my hands on Rodney’s “Step Up to the Mic” book if I could as I’m still eager to learn from him.
Thanks again and I’ll keep a close watch to my “Dailies” to see who the lucky winner is.

  16. Looks like my first comment went to your spam filter. I guess because I included a link.
In any case, I would like to be entered in the contest. Winning anything that can help you in the long run is a good thing, right?

  17. He’s on Master Yoda’s (Don LaFontaine) website under other voices. I’m guessing that means he’s bad @$$. Count me in for a copy. “Winner winner chicken dinner”.
    Cheers,

  30. I think this is a terrific idea – although I need no prize to continue reading Vox Daily! I find these articles to be packed with a wealth of information, encouragement and direction – as someone who is in the process of breaking into the business it has helped me tremendously.
Rodney’s book “You can bank on your voice” I feel was honestly written and from a perspective that gives clarity on all aspects of the business. Thanks for all the great stuff you continue to put out and for opening me up to a community I look forward to being a part of – keep up the good work!
