On the heels of expanding his executive team, David Goldberg, founder and Chief Edge Officer of Edge Studio, welcomed George Whittam as Director of Technology and Whittam’s voice over studio technology company, V.O.StudioTech, into the Edge Studio fold.

“I have admired Edge Studio’s business model, their team of professionals and wide array of services as well as their resourceful website for quite some time now,” says Whittam. “David and I actually met when I interviewed him on my webcast for East-West AudioBodyShop (EWAPS). I was immediately impressed with his easy-going demeanor, expansive knowledge, and commitment to the voice over community.”

Wanting to expand his business Whittam knew it was time to make a move and approach another studio about the possibility of joining forces. “I wanted to play a bigger game, and I needed to find a company that could support me in taking those steps. Frankly, there were very few other options out there, and Edge Studio was the very first company that came to mind – absolutely the top of my list. I’m convinced that together we’ll both be much stronger, and we’ll be able to serve the voice over community better than we’ve ever been able to before.”

The merger appoints Edge Studio as the only full service studio consulting company in the USA entirely dedicated to serving the voice-over industry. Goldberg indicates, “The addition of George and V.O.StudioTech is like finding the missing piece to a puzzle. We now have the opportunity to offer a complete resource center for voice over talent and industry professionals.”

As Director of Technology, Whittam will oversee Edge Studio’s new full service technology department providing advice, design, installation, maintenance, tech support and tutorials for voice talent, in addition to supporting voice-over studios and agencies. This will allow Whittam to get back to his roots and teach rather than worrying about the day-to-day operations of a business. “I will no longer will be bogged down with the operations of a small business, it frees me up to do more of the things I love to do, such as teach, create educational content, and develop new services and products that will help revolutionize the way a voice actor works in the home studio.”

A global authority in voice-over recording technology, Whittam has provided services world-wide working remotely using various web technologies such as Skype with satellite services located in the New York Metropolitan tri-state area. “Knowing that there is a definite demand for our brand of tech support in many different markets, we are open to the possibility of expanding our technology department into other metro areas.”

Whittam has invested thousands of hours researching studio design, recording equipment, and creating training materials for voice actors. In so doing, he has created a solid reputation as an industry innovator by developing specialized services that cater exclusively to professional voice actors.

Graeme Spicer, who recently joined the team as Managing Director of Edge Studio, says it’s Whittam’s talent that sets him apart. “George’s technical and problem solving capabilities are the best in the voiceover business. Edge Studio and V.O. Studio Tech clients will continue to receive the same level of service and access they’ve always had but Whittam’s goal with the merger is to provide even better coverage.

“Building solid relationships with my customers is just as important as fixing their problem. The better I know them, the better I know how best to address their needs. We will also continue providing 24 hour on-call emergency service to our highest level memberships. This merger will provide better access to customer support and response time to queries,” says Whittam. “I’ve done my best with the help of my wonderful part-time customer service representative, Rebel Clair, to stay on top of every voicemail and email that comes in, but we can do much better with the staffing resources at Edge Studio.”
