  1. I read your review on this book with the link provided. I enjoyed it (among many other of your reviews of books, very helpful) very much. In this economy we have to keep our dreams alive and KNOW we will make it in such a career that is competitive, lucrative but most important FUN!!
I feel the book has what it takes to help us voice actors ( what ever our current level of knowledge/experience is) make it.
Thank you Randy, Peter and most of all voices.com and the vox daily!!

  2. Count me in too Stephanie .. I’m a huge fan of Peter and his coaching techniques for voice … I met with Peter during the writing phase, and I personally can attest to the amount of work that went in to the book. A true labor of love!

  3. thanks for the informative review. Would love to get the book! Am at a place where the information would be valuable, as I am rentering the arena after not doing voice overs for about 11 years. Still have a great voice, just don”t know the new technology that well yet. Some but not enough to actually record thru my computer and submit audtions. Then to be able to record a job and send it back to them.
    Thanks for entering me!

  4. I bought a copy when it first came out. Great read, fun and informative. Love the stories from Randy about reading live for the TV shows. The included DVD was excellent, like being in one of Peter and Randy’s classes. While I have my own well thumbed copy – please do include me in the drawing. I just took a first class workshop with Deb Munro and, if I win, I’d pass a copy onto one of the young up and comers from Deb’s course.

  5. As a voiceover artist always in search of new tips and techniques, I thought this was one of the most informative books on the subject that I’ve read. I was so impressed with the subject matter that I gave copies as Christmas presents to two V/O friends.

  6. This sounds like a must have book. You’d better throw my name in for the drawing.
I also must say that I have been enjoying the podcast.
    Thanks for this great service.

  7. Moving into new realms of promo and always inspired by the women who are opening the doors and keeping them open.
    Thanks for the opportunity!

  8. Thanks for the great review. These two are so talented. It’s so great of them to share their experience and expertise with us!

  9. thanks for offering this great opportunity! I’m really just getting started, so the book would be a huge help. Voices.com rocks!

  10. Isn’t it nice to know that ALL of these folks are reading your daily blogs?? Wow! I’ve been familiar with Randy Thomas for many years but would like to get to know Peter Rofe better with this book. We could all use a little “fire-building” in this slow economy….
    Robin Rowan

  11. Count me in. Randy is awesome… and Peter is great too! I would love to read this book!
Side note: Good Day Paul Harvey… It’s been a good life!

  12. I haven’t read your book yet but would very much like to, especially if I can get a copy for free! 🙂 Right now I’m into Rodney Saulsberry’s You Can Bank On Your Voice.

  13. Thank you , Stephanie, for bringing this book to our attention! Looks like a great one. The only thing that would make it even better is receiving a free copy of it. 🙂
Please enter me in the drawing!

  14. I have been receiving and reading Vox Daily for close to a year. It has provided excellent information, links and encouragement that have helped in preparing for a career in this industry.
I have been building a small home studeo and have a target of making this a primary income for me.
The opportunity to read Randy and Peter’s book would really help my in acheiving my goal.
Take care and please keep Vox Daily coming into my email box!!

  15. An up-to-date tome of real-life experience…I’m listening. With a more direct-on approach to voicing over and on its prospective industry, this specific, straight-to-the-point kind of information is really just what we need. Can’t wait to get started working. But first, I sponge in as much well-worth knowledge I can to make the most of every recording and every audition down to the very business transaction. Thank you again for this well of opportunity.

  16. Okay, you got me. I’m a long-time fan of the site, and now a first-time commenter. What can I say? The prize is too tempting to ignore! I always enjoy voice-over books that feature personal stories and anecdotes — so much more satisfying than straight instructional stuff. But ‘Voice For Hire’ sounds like it’s got both. Can’t wait to read it!
    Alison Matthews

  17. I am just starting out in the world of voice-over work, and am eagerly looking forward to reading “Voice For Hire” in the near future. Thanks for posting the review.

  18. Thank you for suggesting this title. I left a job after 25 years on my terms and I am now pursuing dreams that I refuse to let stay buried inside of me. I’ve always been told that I have a great voice. Along with pursuing a career in voice-overs and broadcasting, I’m going to see what happens, no “I’m going to make what I want….happen.” Also, thanks for the valuable information you provide through Vox Daily.

  19. Sounds like an awesome book… perhaps just the thing I need to help me get to the next level. I’d love a copy!
    Randy Bloyd

  20. I would love to have this book and follow in their footsteps. Please put me in for the giveaway.
    Have a great Sunday!
    Maggie Reed

  21. Hi Stephanie,
Well I’d love to win the book, I have quite a collection of them now
and I love reading everyone’s take on the business.

  22. I’m 67 years young. I began my acting career just 3 years ago, almost accidentally & found my passion. I am having the time of my life. I’m one of those who have been told my entire life that I have a great speaking voice. I would love to get into doing voice overs. I have had one audition for a vo & got the booking. I would be honored to get the book, start getting vo work as a result of putting its contents into practice & then write (or record) a glowing testimonial.

  23. Hello, Stephanie… this really sounds like the kind of book I need. My voice career is a little stalled right now, and I need to get started again. This book would get me going and headed towards success.
Right now, I need work more than anything else, and voice work has had to take a back seat. With a book like this, I could get that demodisk done and headed towards someone who could make my name in voicework. I’d like that so much.
If I can win a copy, sweet! If not, I’ll trace the links and get myself a copy. Many thanks, and hope I’m lucky.
    Lloyd Penney

  24. Yes, I would love to win a copy.
There is nothing better than opening my email and finding a copy of Vox Daily. You do a beautiful job of imparting a wealth of information in an interesting and fun way. Thank you for what you do.
    SINCERELY – Maryann Strossner

  25. Stephanie,
A very nice job on your book review. This looks like a *very good read*. I welcome the opportunity to win this book. I am currently working through _The 3-Dimensional Voice_, by Joni Wilson, which I am finding to be very helpful indeed. Thanks again!
    David Overly

  26. Just completed a class with Katherine Ryan, a top Buchwald VO agent, and realized that in spite of my experience in the VO world, there are more mountains I have yet to climb. Any help in the journey is more than welcomed! I hope I win a copy of the book and I am hungry to learn more!
    Debbie Irwin

  27. Stephanie,
In my still short sojourn into the VO business, I’m still amazed at the generosity of the participants in this field to share their paths to success and even “trade secrets” with us novices.
I’m eager to read what these two “rock stars” have to share.
Please put my name in the hopper to win this book and thanks for these wonderful giveaways.

  28. Hi Stephanie:
Thanks again for some great information! This book by two very successful voiceover artists sounds like the epitome of help to all of us in the industry. The volume of knowledge appears to be very in-depth and provides us with most of the answers to questions that we have all been wondering about for years. As a somewhat new individual in this business with some experience, I know that there is a lot I don’t know about it all. I think that this new book is a definite must read!! Please add my name as a hopeful winner to this thoughtful work.
    Carol M. Hahn

  29. Stephanie, I would very much like to receive a copy of “Voice for Hire”. Whether you are a newbie (such as I) or one with years of experience. There is always something more to learn about voice over. I don’t know if there is any part of the industry that shares it’s knowledge and offers to help all of us such as voice over artists do. I appreciate each and every way we can help each other. I have not read this book, but I know that if I did, it would be of immense help in developing my career. Thank each and every one of you for sharing.

  30. I would love to win the book Voice For Hire. There is always room for more knowledge and advice in the VO industry, especially from those that are tried and true in the biz.

  31. I read the review and would dearly Love to read this book, as well as listen to the accompanying cd!
Today is my birthday, and if I could I’d jump up and down with my hand up saying “pick me, pick me!”.
Whether that happens or not, thank you to the Voices staff for presenting information and opportunities like this.
Hopefully, I’ll be able to read from cover to cover, soon.

  32. I’m just starting out and need all the information I can get, and this book looks like it’s loaded with it! Would love to win it.

  33. A few years back a friend called and said that she was going to a workshop with these 2 people whom I had never heard of. It was Peter and Randy. They are the best.

  34. Is this a LOVE story, too? With the passionate embrace by Peter & Randy in the photo…you’d think so!
Can’t wait to read this book…Please put me in the running

  35. Hi Stephanie,
I think Randy and Peter are great and I trust your judgement. If you say it is a must read then it must be. I have been wanting to get a copy of the book and I would love to win it from Voices.com!
    Have a great week!

  36. Personally, I think it’s a fantastic thing to be able to receive books, DVD’s or what have you on the subjects of voice over, or the successful people that are making it happen. Before I got involved in anything voice over, it literally took me years to research anything on the subject at all. At that time, there weren’t any books and/or literature on the subject and any of the professionals that were doing it, were afraid of their own jobs and/or careers to share any of this knowledge. That’s one thing I do enjoy about voices.com. It’s not just a matter of being a lead generator (which some people) call it, but it’s got more information about this business than you can shake a stick at. I don’t know in heaven’s name what is wrong with some people. There’s nothing wrong with having as much help as one can get. It’s fantastic that the professionals in the business would even take the time to write a book, send out blogs and podcasts and tell us newbies what’s in store.
One thing I admire about people like the Don LaFontaines is this: If you ever notice, the people that are really successful at anything, are humble. They don’t sarcastically put down newbies, (we all have to learn), and they don’t tell us that they’re too good to accept certain jobs. They just do what they do. Hats off to all the humble artists and professionals (you know who you are). The ones that have a lot to say in a boastful way, are probably not as successful as they think they are.
Anyway, Love the site, love what you’re doing, and looking forward to many years to come.
    Steve Suekey

  37. This sounds great. As someone getting started in the industry, I’d love to read this and gain some of the insights the book delivers. Please enter me to win it!

  38. I am still relatively new to the voice over world and I am soaking up all of the knowledge and expertise from other professionals that I can. This book sounds like a “must read”
    Paul Hernandez

  39. I was a voice professional with experiences within AC and Talk Radio as well as minor VO experiences. I have tried to gain some insight to the voice over career with little luck.
I feel that this book is a god-send. Where was this when I was looking to break into the business. Looks like I’m going to have to give another shot at it. Thanks Randy and Peter.

  40. It’s the easy to read books which in my opinion have the most impact. Besides, in this biz, if you are not voicing, you better be practicing and continuously learning and honing your craft. Lastly, if you walk away with at least 1 “new” idea, technique, experience, tip or bit of advice…..then it’s all worth it!
    Best of luck to everyone!!

  41. Stephanie,
I’m so glad that I receive the Vox Daily messages as I certainly need an impetus to motivate me into doing something with my extremely limited voice acting experience. Other than having a demo tape made with a bonafide producer, (who said I did well) I have done nothing to introduce myself to the necessary people in the field.
Reading about Randy and Peter’s book has again lit a fire under me and even if I’m not chosen to receive a copy, I have promised myself to purchase a copy.
    Thanks for listening…………..
    Tom Gilbert

  42. I seldom buy books anymore because of the time and eye-ware the computer requires, but I’m going to go out and buy ‘Voice For Hire” on the strength of your review. You pitch it so effectively I can’t leave reading it to chance. If I should win, please give it the the runner-up.

  43. It sounds as if this book is written for VO actos trying to make it in NY or LA. My question is will it help the VO actor in Seattle who don’t want to move to the big city? I find very little material around for the small city VO actor who just wants to work from his home studio but still inspires to do this bix full time.
But please still eneter me for the contest.
    Stevo in Seattle

  44. This looks like a great book on the industry, and I’m looking forward to reading it. Hopefully I can get my copy free from Voices.com!

  45. As most of us know, experience is the slowest of teachers. For that reason alone Randy Thomas and Peter Rofé’s book “Voice for Hire” should be a huge time saver, as well as a compelling read.
