  1. I’m a bit dissapointed. Unfortunately my phone is not Android 4.0, so I cannot download the app. It doesn’t even show up in my google play store. I guess my wait is going to be alot longer than I had hoped, Ugh!

  2. Wow! Stephanie & David…you’ve OUTDONE yourselves with this new Android App!! I just downloaded it to my latest toy, Samsung Galaxy iiiS, which is PERFECT for this app, because the screen is so big. The graphics are clear, it’s simple to navigate, and very well thought-out. I can’t wait to do my FIRST AUDITION on-the-go!!
Yes, I’ve rated it…and gave it 5 stars…nice work guys!

  3. “Your device isn’t compatible with this version.”
    I have a G2X
Also, “Entries will be judged on the overall quality of the review and *rating*,” seems suspect. Anyone who finds the app unworthy of a five-star review will still likely give it a five, to be in the running for the prize. I would be amazed if anyone wrote anything other than glowing reviews this week (and how can they adequately review it without using it for a while?) This will not paint an accurate picture nor improve the quality of the app, which I believe is what reviews are for.

  4. Hi Tom,
The app is compatible with 4.0 as you mentioned. I would believe that it is the Ice cream sandwich update. Jamie is working on making the app compatible for all Android versions and we appreciate your patience.
    Thank you!

  5. Hi Catherine,
Thank you for your comment and for sharing your thoughts. I just got to these comments now (we had a launch party and press conference earlier this morning) and apologize for a delay in response.
The Voices.com app currently is available for Android devices with the operating system version of 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or higher. Work is being done to make the Voices.com app available for earlier version of Android all the way down to Android operating system 2.3 (Gingerbread) which should be made available within the next couple of weeks. I will be posting about this later today so that our readers will receive that information should anyone have experienced difficulty accessing the app and didn’t know why.
We expect that people will rate the app based upon their experience and thoughts. Of course we want for people to deem our app worthy of 5-stars, and believe that it is a 5-star experience, however we want those reviews to be authentic. I don’t believe the app can be reviewed through Google Play unless your device supports the current version and the individual has downloaded the app. The quality of the review translates to how much thought was put into the review, no spelling mistakes, mention of how it has been used, etc. The quality of the review doesn’t mean that it has to be a 5-star rating but I could see how it may come across that way.
The Android app was a long time coming and the fact that it is now available is a game changer for voice talent and clients who wanted to use Voices.com more effectively on their mobile device. I wouldn’t be surprised to see 5-star ratings as the norm as we believe in our product and are very excited to get it into the hands of our customers who use Android devices.

  6. Thanks for your response, Stephanie. I have always appreciated the service voices.com provides to the VO community. However, I am also perturbed by the trend of businesses to reward customers for writing good reviews for them. It defeats the purpose of the public reviewing system, from which we, as customers, all benefit.
You may want to consider re-wording the rules to not say, “Entries will be judged…on the rating.” Even without that, I see there is pressure to give a 5-star review, in the hopes of increasing one’s chance of winning the prize. There are already a bunch of reviews today – all but one are 5-star. I don’t doubt this is a great app, but I generally live with an app for weeks before I review, to see all it can do, find its strengths/weaknesses and be sure there are no bugs.

  7. Hi Catherine,
I have made the bullet point clearer re: entries will be judged… I have essentially said what I typed in my response to you but phrased it differently.
    Thank you for the suggestion,

  8. “• Entries will be judged on the overall quality of the review and rating (how useful the review is to other users, proper grammar, thoughtfulness, highlighting features that helped you, general experience, etc.).”
Drop the “and rating” part. As previously mentioned it’s misleading, and invites inaccuracies and abuse. The parenthetical info does not address the “rating” issue.
