You might have heard that there are now book trailers online with excerpts read from books promoting print publications.
Always one to follow the trends in pop culture, Alfred Matthew Yankovic, more widely known as “Weird Al” Yankovic, has also produced a trailer to promote his new children’s book, “When I Grow Up” published by HarperCollins Children’s. Yankovic has also narrated his book and published his latest work via HarperAudio.
Al Yankovic probably didn’t envision a career making his bread and butter poking fun at popular culture and music icons through musical parodies. Perhaps even further off his radar was writing a children’s book and his debut as an audiobook narrator!
Paired with illustrations by Wes Hargis, Yankovic’s imaginative story leaps off the page. The print version of the book is 32 pages long and the audio version runs 7 minutes in duration. Many occupations are explored ranging from a chef to a “smelly pit-sniffing deodorant tester.”
I thought you might enjoy seeing and possibly relate to this story of crossing over from singer to voice over talent.
“When I Grow Up,” written and read by Al Yankovic, is available for sale on iTunes.
All Grown Up
Growing up I wanted to be a teacher or a singer. In a roundabout way, I’ve managed to both teach and also use my voice.
How about you? How have your childhood dreams merged with your profession?
