Ever Recorded In A Weird Place?

Dave Pettitt Voice Over – ISDN Studio said, “In the passenger seat of my truck in a State park.”
Voice over talent Ja-Len Jones recorded in a subway station!
Hayden Neeley had to prepare a recording environment on the fly, creating under “a makeshift studio of blankets draped over a loft/bunkbed…and that was for the actual recording!”

Mark Ewart shared, “Under the duvet in my hotel room. Worked well until housekeeping decided to check the mini bar!….took some explaining. And in the trunk of my Volvo.”
Matilda Novak has recorded auditions from her walk-in closet.

  1. I once recorded a concert commercial for Diana Krall inside a grass hut beside the ocean in Mexico. You could hear the sound of the ocean waves in the background! Needless to say, her concert sold out.

  2. I was making dinner and watching our baby in her playpen. An audition came along that I could NOT ignore. Obviously, I couldn’t run downstairs to the studio, so I grabbed the only thing available – my camcorder. I held it like a microphone, recorded a few takes, and uploaded them to my laptop. Yes, the quality was not very professional, but… I got the job! And the baby was happy, and dinner didn’t burn. 😉

  3. HA, love this! I’ve definitely done the hotel thing. Inside the hotel room closet with blankets over my head. That’s the beauty about our job is that we can literally work from anywhere (as long as it’s quiet enough!)

  4. Voice – under blankets in bedroom.
Acting video audition – for chronicles of riddick 3 audition. crouching on top of a 40′ grainery ‘yelling’ lines across my yard. (and more than a little concerned what the neighbors thought)

  5. Recorded audition in Chicago on a very busy area in front of a Starbucks coffee in the back seat of my car around Midnight CT. Used Porta Booth pro, VO1A and Mic port pro.
