Lora Cain with Vanna White and Pat Sajak of Wheel of FortuneWhat’s that I hear? Why it’s a female voice announcing on one of America’s most popular and beloved game shows!

Voice over professional Lora Cain has proven that there’s more room at the inn for ladies working on Wheel of Fortune.
While game show announcing has been relatively fair in terms of opportunities for both male and female voice over talent, the big game shows haven’t given way to many female announcers but all of that could change.
For instance, Wheel of Fortune has not been graced by the voice of a female announcer… until now!
Learn more about how Lora got the opportunity to try out and also about her experience in today’s VOX Daily.

Wheel…of…Fortune!

Since announcer Charlie O’Donnell passed away at the age of 78 on November 1st, 2010, the long-running game show Wheel of Fortune has recruited a number of guest announcers until they find someone to take on the role of announcer permanently.
O’Donnell had served as announcer on Wheel of Fortune for decades. Finding someone to take his place has presented a unique challenge to Wheel of Fortune producers and also a fantastic opportunity for some of voice over’s finest to be heard.
A number of men have stepped up to the mic, including Joe Cipriano, and lo and behold, a woman has too!

Lora on Wheel

Lora Cain has been guest announcing for Wheel on a number of occasions and also owns the honour of being the program’s first female guest announcer. Lora’s voice has been heard periodically as announcer this January, February, March and will also be announcing for a time in April 2011.

Lora was also chosen as the voice of the Wheel of Fortune Vanna For a Day Contest winner promo.
Wheel of Fortune is going to be making their decision largely based upon feedback sent in by their viewers. If you’d like to vote for Lora or any of the other candidates, you can go to:
