About Us
Kia Simon, an award-winning filmmaker, started Sneaky Little Sister Films (www.sneakylittlesister.com) in 2004 in Oakland, California, with a focus on motion graphics and narrative design. Kia says “The design we create should always be telling the story, not distracting from it. It’s always about the ideas that are being communicated.” Notable projects include the feature film Kabluey starring Lisa Kudrow (opening title and credit animations), the documentary Everyday Sunshine: The Story of Fishbone (animation sequences), and directing the music video “Lipstique” starring drag queens Fauxnique and Peaches Christ. Sneaky Little Sister Films produces motion graphics for Diageo Wines and Estates, KQED’s “Deep Look” series, Workday Inc., Intel, the Skoll Foundation’s Education Girls program, and many other corporations and non-profits. In addition to mastering new design tools and methods, Kia enjoys learning about new topics and fields through her work. She is constantly recruiting and cultivating young artists with different design styles and sensibilities, and loves helping her artists improve and grow.
