some ideas are just extraordinary. Some places are very unique combined the two with a century of stories and dreams, and you get an historic landmark. Historic landmarks give us a sense of place and purpose, a deeper understanding of where we've been and where we're going. Overland Park is a place that was built with a unique idea and a founding vision that lives on today, Right at the dawn of the 20th century, Kansas City was rapidly becoming more dense and congested and was prone to frequent flooding. One man came forward with a plan for an alternative community encompassing a higher quality of life for working people, modern technology and transportation. His name was William Beast rang a railroad builder. The city he envisioned was a park like community on the old Overland trail above the floodplain. He named it Overland Park.
