the peripheral nerves air surrounded by a network of blood vessels. The nerves need a healthy blood supply to deliver nutrients and oxygen to them and carry away wastes. If the nerves don't have a healthy blood supply to support them, they begin to deteriorate or die. We can think about the system like a tree. The nerves air like the leaves and branches, and the blood vessels are like the routes delivering nutrients and water to the tree that it needs to survive. If the root system starts getting damaged, the other parts of the tree will start to weld. If this goes on long enough, the tree will die. The good news is that if caught early damage to nerves can be treated and turned around.
