as I approached the front gates of Yellowstone National Park, the grandeur of the vista overwhelmed me. Natural splendor of two million acres of wilderness drenched out in every direction. I could hardly wait to explore the parks vast network of trails and to see my first bear. A few battles from any war convey more sobering memories than the historic battle of Gettysburg. During the Civil War in the summer of 18 63 this three day clash between union and Confederate forces claimed more than 50,000 casualties. Nearly 8000 soldiers killed outright are buried at the battlefield site. Today, top storm chaser Michael Bentley gears up for another busy day. Radar indicates strong thunderstorm activity 150 miles to the south and wind patterns consistent with F three and above tornadoes. Michael hopes to capture camera footage as a twisted developed, along with data measuring the funnels, wind speed and direction. To check your horizon. Voicemail.
