how to be a good storyteller. Storytelling is a clear winner and is the most effective because it doesn't hide anything from the audience, including the struggles or negative aspect of your journey. And therefore the audience is more likely to trust you and believe your message. You can weave storeys into your presentation by including anecdotes in between the pieces of fact and authority. Here are a few characteristics that Good storytellers exhibit. By keeping it simple, you can help the audience identify with the topic. Good storeys are easy to understand, and they're also told in a language that matches the way the intended audience communicates so they don't need to spend time interpreting and then absorbing. Simplicity also aids and memorability because the overall lesson is easy to grasp in summary, just like a favourite aunt uncle who tells great storeys. Good storytelling requires an emotional component. Most of the memorable ones have humour, pain or joy. Sometimes all three. If every storey were simply facts stated one after another, most of us wouldn't listen or remember any of it. Being truthful has many benefits because audiences can see through an attempt at truth. We are not addressing truth in the scientific sense where there's an objective fact stated but true in so far as the teller believes in what they're saying and are authentic, honest with themselves and their audience about it. This resonates greatly with an audience, as they believe not only in the presenter but in the message. Good storeys are firsthand experiences the teller actually witness, even if it's a storey that's passed on generationally. An effective one still has an element of how that storey relates directly to the teller told in the tellers own words. This element of real nous helps add to the validity of the storey, regardless of the audience size. A good storey works for any audience one toe, one million. It isn't concerned with how many people hear it, just that someone, somewhere is listening to it.
