Sweden is a small country but a big forestry nation. Swedish forests cover an area that is bigger than the whole of Great Britain, and they are worth close to 90 billion euro forests are good for the environment, people and society, providing materials for products such as houses, furniture, newspapers, packaging, green fuels and bio plastics, and even clothes. The Swedish forestry industry is among the most efficient in the world, with machines felling more than 100 trees an hour, a total of 85 million cubic metres a year. Is there any danger that we will run out of forest? No. On the contrary, every year almost 50% more forest grows and it's felt on three new trees are planted for everyone cut down. This also better for the forest. An important element in all this is the Swedish forest react. This was first passed back in 1903 and serves as a contract between the forestry industry and society. Ensuring that the forests that grow in Sweden are both bigger and stronger than what is cut down on that their natural value is retained so that we can use and enjoy them for generations to come.
